Anybody experimented with transmission temps after OTT? I have noticed that when it hangs in 4th on long hill climbs it actually cools the trans down… if it stays locked in gear would it build more heat? Not sure how auto trans work… I know if you break it, they have to get an expensive trap from Japan to catch and replace the unicorns inside. :notsure:

Figured I’ll ask you guys. This is the first time we’re using a neighbor to let our dogs out and feed them while we’re on vacation. We’re letting their kid (12 I think?) do it. How much would yall pay Them? The parents just said pay whatever we want, it’s her first job. We suck at this and haven’t even had a babysitter yet so we have no clue what these kinds of services usually run. What would be y’all’s expectation? No wrong answers.

The cheapest Rover drop in visit near me is $13 per visit. I assume he would come over 3 times a day and feed 1 or 2 times per day. I think any 12 year old would be stoked for $25 per day.

Did you have to retune the truck to accommodate for the new gearing / which tune if you did?

Not yet. Still on the fence if it’s worth the tune. I will say the truck is jumpy off the start. Tunes are supposed to smooth things out.

1000% worth it especially with a regear!

the problem on the third gen is the trans uses a thermostat. It doesn’t open until around 195 so you are gonna run hotter temps unless you pin it.
I pinned mine and left it year round. Never saw higher than 180 after that.

ETA - the tune reworks the torque converter lock/unlock, so I’d venture to say it’ll still be cooler than stock either way. You should get it!

    33/12.5/17's ? :burnrubber:

You'd have to send @JustDSM a message if you were serious about getting the tune and having gear lock. Typically in those situations the files aren't readily available, so they'd need to know what your end use would be to approve the GL and distribution the files to the retailer or yourself (if you self install).

Either myself or @jayandersen5 are probably the closest retailer to you, depending where in SC you are. Happy to discuss further if you want to PM me.

I've got the stuff to tune myself. Still on an old ass OV Tune 2.0 from 2021 right now. Considering getting an updated tune for GL and AGM battery charging.

Honestly I'd just like to be able to get on the highway and cruise in 5th and be able to climb a small hill at more than 60% throttle without the damn thing throwing itself into 4th for 30 seconds. That and cruise control are my only complaints. I'm on 35s with 5.29s.

take a look at this post. I think you’ll gain some insight as to why in a lot of scenarios the truck needs to be in a lower gear. In a lot of cases it might not be what you want but it’s where the truck needs to be given the how torqueless the 3.5 engine is.

Yeah, understood, that's why I want a GL tune. If I've got it in 5th I'd like it to stay there until I tell the truck otherwise.
