We look forward to your visit. I'll have the secretary get the donuts out of the microwave when you pull in

I met with a financial advisor once, he said come see him when I could afford to pay him then we could talk :anonymous:

I know this will come as a HUGE shock to you but I'm laying off the carbs to shed some much unwanted weight so no donuts for me for a while.
If I wasn't married, I wouldn't be in a position to even think about meeting with one. My wife is the money maker, I'm just along for the ride.

I make the money these days, (used to be the wife before she decided to take on mom duty. Much respect to her). But the wife is entirely the reason we have enough to do financially adult things. I would just be buying toys.

To talk to any financial advisor is not too bad of a deal; however, to find an experienced financial advisor for planning your monetary advancement is like the successful rate of a marriage.
I was once seeking a helpful financial advisor for the money I got when I quit my previous employment; amongst several of them I have talked to, there was one with the following advise:
Me: I need to have my money invest in something, can you help?
FA: Sure, just bing your money here, I can open an account for you.
Me: But...can you tell me how would that money will be managed (blah, blah,..)
FA: Well, when you want to get your money invested, you need to know ‘investment 101’....
    Me: Thanks for the advise
    Never look back!

Stay away from those that want to charge a percentage. We pay a flat rate of $125/ month. It just bothered me the more my investments are worth, the more of my money they get.

I have no problem giving them the $125. It's way less than the 1-2% the other places want to get paid.

Which do y'all prefer? A family member recently recommended Fidelity to me, but they manage all their own investments through them.

edit: $125 per month seems very reasonable. I've read some charge 4-5k a year depending on how much they manage.
