Long story short, my wife borrowed my truck yesterday (2018 AC 6MT) and accidentally put it in 4h and drove around town (less than 10 miles) all on dry pavement. When I got it back from her I noticed that it didn't roll in neutral when I let the parking brake off. Then I saw it was in 4H. It was hard to get back into 2WD, but rolled fine after that. Did she ruin anything or is the lack of rolling normal in 4H? What damage should I be looking for?

I've had that happen before on previous 4wd trucks, if it happens again try putting it in reverse and back up a few feet, this seems to unbind the system and then you should be able to put it in to 2H. I wouldn't worry about any damage.

I got it out of 4H, my concern is that it now doesn't roll in neutral when in 4H the way it does when it's in 2H.

I'm sure you're just being paranoid about this now. Locked in 4WD you have more load on the system so now you're turning front and rear differentials, so there's more resistance compared to just the rear diff. You're fine

A little of this and a little of that.
    Welcome to TW Corey-

^^This^^ With the transfer case engaged, you have more resistance with the front differential and the rear differential. Your truck will be fine.

Cool that your wife can drive the manual.
My wife has the skills to drive my 6-speed manual too, but I don’t let her.:boink:

    Welcome to TW!
As said rolling resistance with 4wd compared to 2wd!
Be easy on the wife I’m sure she feels bad!
It’s a truck having been married 37yrs the wife has outlasted a lot of trucks!

My wife don’t drive my truck either because she doesn’t want to chance doing anything to it.
I’m kinda old and over it now it’s a vehicle shit happens.

It'll be cheaper to trade trucks than to trade wives. It's also in your best interest to never bring it up to her again

I'ts fine man. Lesson learned. Do not let wife drive truck. My wife has not driven my trucks for several years. I just make sure she has something nice to drive.

    Yes it's absolutely trashed.

I'll open bidding at a half-eaten hot dog and $3.47 in pocket change.

My wife can’t drive a manual and has no desire to either, and this was one of the main reasons why I went with a manual over auto. :D

Geez man, your paper mache' truck is fine. Step off the ledge and go apologize to your wife for whatever you said to her. Then go see a doctor for some anti-anxiety medication.

LMFAO, my ex wife drove her truck with no oil in it.

she was talking to me in the driveway while i was draining it.
I said "i gotta go to the shed and get the new oil" as i was walking to the shed, she muttered something about going to the store.

she drove off in it, oil drain pan sitting under it too.

I called her phone when i walked back to the driveway and the truck was gone.
I told her to stop and turn the engine off, so i can come over there and fill the oil.

she actually went a few miles

05 ram 4.7, it had like 50k miles at the time.

somehow, there was no noticeable damage. she traded it in at 170k and it was still fine...

The only reason I hate swapping vehicles with my wife, is all the adjustments.
my back is fked and its almost impossible for me to get the seats, mirrors, etc back where i had them

Probably no real harm done there as it would likely have been a catastrophic failure if damage happened - like turning a tight radius and binding something so bad that something has to give!

On another note, we have a 4Runner TRD Pro in our family. It has a manually actuated transfer case lever - old school design, not a knob. I got a call one last wintery/snowy day from my wife that the 4R wouldn't move when she was in the parking lot at work. Yep, you probably guessed it.............she shifted the t-case into neutral instead of 2H from 4H. Probably in a hurry and not paying attention. She was pretty panicked and felt bad enough about it - so hopefully your lady learns what to look for (4WD engagement light!) and it won't happen again!!!! And maybe she'll make it up to you! :)
