Label 4WD and AC buttons, either on the button or on the high-quality dashboard material behind them.

And teach her enough to be confident putting it back in 2WD.

Shoot mine will try and take the steering wheel out of your hand! Yes you can feel the outside wheel hop. Shoot I can feel it with my 4X4 tractor if I'm on hard top.

My wife once, for no apparent reason, drove around all day with her car's PRNDL in L. She called me to complain that the engine sounded really loud.

Given the level of help some newbie males need, why can we not have an "idiot husband ruined my truck!"?

If you always drive in 4wd in dry pavement in urban conditions you can count the days (if not hours) until the drivetrain fails dramatically...

Driving around in 4wd on pavement for a few dozen miles does not always result in a massive failure at that time... But it is certainly not a good thing to do...

If the transfer case grenades while being used properly off road in the future; would I suspect such instances of dry use playing a part in the failure? Most likely, yes...

    - If I fell off a cliff and got all smashed-up - but only died a day later... Did I die of natural causes? or did I die from a fall from a cliff?

    :anonymous:

My wife 'used' to drive manuals... but she has become a very lazy manual driver, so I've cringed the handful of times she has driven the taco.

I explained early on about 4WD and 2Lo mod and the the way these work to highlight the risk of damage if not used properly - in case she needed to use it...
I explained the difference between Part time 4wd and her past AWD vehicles and her current AWD electric vehicle...

I am relieved that she now thinks it is all too hard and does not really want to drive it. :broccoli:

Next time the topic comes up (hopefully never) as an added insurance: just casually mention a figure to repair all of it if "the worst" happens. Sometimes it's best to have a buddy visiting when you bring it up: "You know, Harold here had this happen and the repair bill was over $2,700..." Give "Harold" a six-pack of something for his nod of approval, but don't rely on him to hold steady when the Mrs. starts to pressure him for the fine details under cross-examination. He'll cave. Nothing you can do about it "except head for the mountains". ;)

Yeah...It almost never works. As Archie Bunker once said to Michael:

"You'll never get away with it Meathead: Women are loaded with that whatchama-call it?: >>Woman's Intermission<<"

    "You're a dead man."
