OK, so the 2014 is the best year of the re-fresh because it still has the retro white LED digital clock. ;) A couple of points subtracted for the auto-dim temp/compass rear view mirror delete screw up because it listed it as standard equipment, :evil:upload_2024-7-19_18-28-23.png (but they left the wiring harness partially in place) and the dealers would retrofit trucks built without it at customer request if they complained.

True, model year 2015 had the TRD-Pro, but Toyota only built/made like six of them and Jay Leno bought all of them, so they don't count. :proposetoast:

Is this true?! That seems kind of...well, what a weird vehicle for a guy like that to hoard..maybe they're company cars for his detailers and mechanics?

Nope, I don't know if he bought any, but I've seen them so he didn't buy them all.

Just jokin' ya: apologies. Leno has a few "one offs" but I don't think a Tacoma is one of them. For transparency: Total production of the 2015 Tacoma TRD Pro was:
1,193. Inferno: 492 Black: 377 Super White: 324. Rare birds all.

I learn something new some days, not others. Today's a learning-day --- what are all the special features that are specific to the 2015 TRD Pro, as opposed to the normal / much more common TRD Off-Road?

This is accurate information from what I have learned. The only thing I never have been able really to pin down is whether Toyota restored the auto-dim/compass/outside temp rear-view mirror as standard equipment for 2015. On the 2014's it was supposed to be part of the SR5 trim as listed in the sales brochures, but it was not included on production units for some reason. Toyota reportedly made good on this omission, and retro-fitted the mirror (dealer) for owners that brought it to their attention.

    Yeah but -- anything important?

    Like more horsepower? Better suspension?

No, they didn't get any more horsepower than the other V6 Tacomas of the same era. When it comes to Toyota, they are more into different types of wheels, special decals and emblems to separate packages but they are too cheap to extend any of the differences to anything mechanical to make one package more special than the other except maybe shocks, locker or transmission cooler.

While the extra bed space would be nice at times I get more use out of the fold flat rear seat in the double cab, it pretty much stays full of all my diag stuff all the time.
Wasn't fond of the Spruce Mica color when I got it but it's kinda grown on me (still would have rather had Blue Ribbon Metalic), it was the only 4wd manual I could find within 200mi of me at the time.

    Still cleans up nice.

I waffle a lot on the AC/DC thing (something something, done dirt cheap..). I really love the AC, but I hate to admit the DC is a bit easier to live with in most senses. I'll probably like the long bed if I do a camper setup in the back, but DCLB is just too much of a long boi. I was a little surprised to see there isn't a significant weight (and subsequently payload) difference between the two as well.
