When I recently went down the rabbit hole for tubeless conversion on spoked rims, I discovered that tube vs tubeless simply means the tube tire rubber will slowly leak air over time. A tubeless tire has a special membrane to keep the air in.
That being said, tubes are fine for both. You can also run a tubed tire with no tube, just be sure to check your pressure daily, which should be done anyway.
What I did run into was the different type of rims, some require a tube to keep the tire on the wheel with low pressure, in a corner, or during side loading. Tubeless rims have a safety bead, some of the tubed rims do not.

Nice. I’ve got zero space on the bike. Have to go in the tank bag. Still a nice size tho

The other issue with this is how far off will it make your odometer? You could end up servicing items prematurely or running past the interval you intended. An extra oil change here and there won't hurt anything you're just spending more money that perhaps you needed to spend.

meh tbh im use to that:notsure: all my trucks have been lifted with larger tires and the speedo and odo have always been a bit off. its never bothered me before and tbh wouldnt bother me now on a bike as long as it gets done at the end of the day tbh.

When I first bought the Buell shown in my avatar, it didn't take long to realize the speedo/odo were WAY off. Reading well over 10% too high. It was that bad I made them replace the speedo under warranty. The replacement was "better" but it's still further off than I feel should be acceptable.

I learned also that most Japanese bikes have speedo error that's pretty high. For doing long distance rallies many rallies actually do an odometer check before the event. They'll lay out a predetermined route and everyone has to ride it and have their odometer recorded so they can determine the proper correction factor for each entrant. FJR1300 with stock size tires will show roughly 16.3 miles on a 16.0 mile course. My ex rode her own bike and we rode together on rallies. More than once she finished ahead of me by virtue of showing less miles ridden for the same number of points scored.

man that would have been annoying on a brand new bike...

ya thats something my buddy told me is honda claims a certain percentage and goes eh good enough and ships the bikes. i could see that in a rally being very annoying thou when you are trying to hit a certain number to finish.

My grom was about 5% off from the factory. It reads speed off the output shaft, so when I went down a tooth in the front I was off around 11%, put a speedo healer on that real quick.

On the F800GS though it's amazing how much it'll vary depending on how old the tire is. A fresh adv tire vs one that needs replaced could easily be an inch of diameter difference which'll change the speedometer reading a significant amount. That one reads off the ABS tone ring.

Harley Davidson speedometers used to say "certified" right on them and were almost dead nuts on as delivered. I've been told BMW speedometers are off when the tires are fresh and full sized but are designed to improve in accuracy as the tire wears before dropping off again at the end of tire life so that it averages out to be correct. I can't verify that personally but it sounds sort of logical.

Just waxed my chain, going for a ride tomorrow. Been a few weeks since I've been on the bike too. Hot and other life projects. But I'm gonna get a ride in tomorrow.

Well since the whole internet fuckup thing my work was shut down and we were sent home early since we couldn't work lol. The gf was also sent home early so we decided to go and take the bikes out and ride around. Went by my buddy's place to swap his 86 aspencade goldwing for his 78 goldwing since the 86 is having some carb issues then went and got the gf. Fueled up before we left and did about 150-160 miles just riding around checking out gear shops and getting coffee and some ramen. I even got to see my dream car like holy shit! 1 owner 42k miles mint AF Acura Integra type r in phonex yellow like shit I would love something like this one day! But sadly I'm the poor!

No real pics today since we didn't focus on it.

Also I did got to cycle gear to ask about tires and I just wanted info on tires on what they carried, had in stock, when it would arrive so on and so on. I asked about shinkos the odd German brand that is good that starts with an m, Dunlop and one other I think? But man all I got is a lot of hate for being even interested in shinkos... and having the German brand shoved down my throat so not pleased for that one... Other then that a good day!

    Metzeler.

Used to have Acura integras. I had a 94 and a 98. Both GSRs. Definitely would love one again.

I've had a 91 most recently that got swapped and road coursed before I sold it.

That 91 should say k-swapped. I still prefered the third gens though.

Hard to find clean ones and they are expensive anymore. I didn't spend more than 2k on each one for initial purchases

Sick I wanted to do a k swap but didn't like the cost so found a b18b1 to just have fun with plus I for some reason like the old b series motors haha

That is very true anymore.. it's getting hard to find a clean one or one for a good price!

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I cannot convince my wife to not look at her speedo when following me on her bike. I keep telling her to just keep pace with me (and I barely look at my speedo) but she rides the speed limits to a T. Such a rule follower.

I'm already in the BMW world haha. It's not that bad if you do your own work and try not to break it.

Talked with the wife. I think if it was 3 or so hours away I'd make it work, I don't think with the kid and our schedule this week I can make a six hour each way drive work and I'm assuming it'll be gone quick :pout:
