Had no idea anything happened. Bob Newhart died though, that put a damper on my day.

Yeah the outage for me was the same as a snowstorm that didn't stick to the roads as a kid - no snow day, still gotta go to work.

Covid hit and folks at work stayed home I was there working( except when the furloughed me for like 8 weeks) snow comes and they close I’m still working. Armageddon could probably happen and they’d still have me working

Since this thread popped up, I have improved my readiness. I’m good for maybe a month, basically camping at home. With the weather situations lately and now this computer thing, it’s nice to have a cushion.

I have had discussions like this with local friends. we try for 6 months preps. some are in their forever homes and some are not. some people are striving to get into a completely off grid and self sufficient homestead where they can survive for the rest of their lives. I'm not in my forever home. I'm doing what I can and don't have the space for animals and a large garden. So I'm trying to be ready for anything but I mostly plan for local and relatively short term disaster. I just kinda assume the Cascadia subduction zone will let off the big one and Seattle will crumble in a big quake which would be really bad for the area. In that scenario there is a time to leave before the horde. My location gives me a head start but if we are late then we have to dig in and stick it out. which is another reason to prep and coordinate with neighbors.

I’m thinking I may carry a jerry can or 2 to work with me so if I’m there when the balloon goes up I can fill with wine and drag them home

Such a good thread. Can’t wait to be in our new to us home so we can get our preps organized.

Our main reason is we need a place for my mom to move in with us without stairs. The full basement and garage is a plus, and we will be out a little bit from the city.

I’ve got a lot of stuff. I’d have to also move a Camaro, 3 big tool boxes, 2 welders, and a plasma cutter along with all the yard stuff plus a full basement of goodies. It can and may get done but I’ll probably get rid of a lot of stuff first we are trying to thin things out now
