Interesting, good to know and maybe it is one because TRD is just in red on mine, also I guess that does make sense, no judgement for that I mean they are nice trucks just to own in general, plus not much else lasts as long while also doing as much so they do keep pretty good value

From the photo, looks like the midnight black, hard to see at night, package.

All kidding aside, those rims were added later probably from what I can see. Toyota doesn't like to use chrome lugs on black wheels from what I have seen in the past. Same for GST but no idea if that vehicle was processed through GST before it hit the dealer. Can't speak for the other distributors.

It is usually the distributors (GST, SET, etc) or Toyota that will choose the rims. Dealerships rarely swap out rims and tires upon delivery except in cases where they have their own little package deal that is unique to the dealership. For example, "TSS" is not a dealer package but a distributor package. A dealer specific package can be something like "San Antonio Spurs edition" or something like that.

i don't think any of the 2nd gen TRDs came from factory with 17" wheels either? I may be wrong on that though.

Only TRD Sport (and I think Limited) models did, 5 lug base trucks came with 15s and all others had 16s.

I never saw a 17" TRD wheel the whole time I was dealing with 2nd gen Tacoma tire and wheel assembly at the factory. There was some 17" wheel offerings at one time, including even 17" spare too but none of them said TRD or was black in color (aside from the 17" spare) from the factory.

Would have been added after it was built (by distribuitor, customer, or dealer) if it ended up with anything 17" with a TRD logo or black color.

I mean it could've been a thing done to it later or just a rare thing with the dealership

Do you have compass, and thermometer in the headliner console, or 2 sunglass holders? Compass is trd, 2 sunglass is set. You can also check the bed to see for outlet and storage only on trds

My 2006 came with 17" wheels as part of the TRD 4x4 Sport package. Spare is a steel 17" wheel as well. Thought most of the models that year came with 17" wheels.

I meant where the wheel itself says "TRD" somewhere, could be center cap or spoke. There is no 17" Tacoma wheel that has a "TRD" logo on it for 2nd gen from the factory.

Sorry about that. Toyota has really overdone the whole "TRD" moniker so when someone says "TRD" this or that....I don't even really know what people are referring to specifically.

One of the many reasons why I will never put anything that says "TRD" on my own Tacoma, not even a shifter knob.

What you're describing is a sport thing, '06 TRD ORs came with the typical 16" alum wheels.

    Yeah.
So, this appears to be a TRD Off Road with aftermarket wheels.

No rear lockers, cannot be an offroad. Maybe sport with swapped out hood

OPs truck does have the locker and A-Trac (see post #6) so it can't be anything other than a TRD OffRoad as the only other trim with a locker is the TRD Pro and that wasn't offered until the 2015 model year.
