I would've suggested some low profile led lights instead of those power burners!

Every Canada goose I’ve encountered defended something anytime I got near…

Unrelated…. The transfer station manager is a nice guy, had a conversation about the damages from the storm last week. Said the town oked $780K just for town road repairs.

We talked about my regular commute, state Rt 135. He said the state says they won’t even be able to assess it for another month. He encouraged me to check out the first collapse that wasn’t far from the transfer station. Said for this particular wash out, the stream that had a culvert could be assessed to need a bridge instead. He said I could see the remnants of the old abutment that was replaced by the culvert years ago if I went up there. Sure enough, you could see it:

    IMG_7445.jpg IMG_7443.jpg IMG_7441.jpg IMG_7437.jpg

That rusted chunck of metal in the last pic is the old culvert….

There’s a couple more sections like this that I’ll try to scope out in the coming days.

Verdict on the paddleboard - the new one is fantastic. I'm glad we bought the second one. My wife is a bit less stable on them than I am and when a boat went by, she was able to stay up on the new one when I fought off the waves as best as I could but ended up in the drink on the old one.

Ended up going in the neighborhood of 17,000 feet back and forth a few times across the lake. I'm absolutely spent.

Beautiful day here, a perfect day to do what I like best - drive. :burnrubber:

Mrs Green & I took a 180 mile amble around to our favorite surplus store, a road side junk shop (and it was junk even by my pretty low standards), a few sales, a few thrifts and finished at The Club for a $6 dinner (that is for both of us) and a bit of shopping.

I was prowling the meat section when they put out a package of some nice 1" thick sirloin on mark down!
 I'll see if I can make something passable with them.

Excellent day - I hope y'all enjoyed yours too.

Yes it is! I serviced 7, 250 HP rotary screw Quincy compressors.

When leaks were eliminated, the plant was able to run on 3 compressors vs the normal 4.

Spinning 250 horse power 24/7 uses a lot of electricity. The bean counters were very happy.

When I started at "The Company" some :censored: had boosted the unload pressure up to 140, factory set point was 125... Not only is this out of the design spec for the compressors it wastes a lot of energy too.

Naturally if I dropped the pressure 15 psi people would notice and immediately start the "we can't run like this" :crapstorm: driven by *people* who are generally about as useful as a fire extinguisher full of gasoline and know even less about air compressors than they know about frying pans...
    * Commonly referred to as idiots...

It took me six months easing the pressure down about a 1/4 pound at a time every few days -- we ran at 115 pounds for the next 15 years and nobody noticed the difference.

My former employer provided compressed air assessments and leak ID services. I worked a few of them in paper mills...and Yes... compressed air leaks are SO costly. Even intentional uses are wasteful at times.
