    Yeah.
I've sound-deadened mine for audio reasons, but mine is super quiet sitting at a light, can't even tell it is running. I guess it does vibrate a bit under acceleration, but for a truck, I'd say the Tacoma has always felt a bit "tighter" than other makes and models of trucks I've driven. This may translate to a bit more vibration being felt.

Comparing it to my wife's '17 4Runner Limited with the 4.0, I'd say the vibration is about the same, but the 3.5 is a much more refined motor and accelerates better and more smoothly.

Some people are just more sensitive and have expectations based on driving unibody passenger vehicles. Trucks are not the same.

Some of these 3rd gens do have extreme vibrations more than others. I’ve owned 5 of them and my last one was REALLY bad compared to the others I owned. On top of that yes most of them idle smoothly and can barely tell they are running but mine idled in gear so rough you could visually see and my head would literally shake it was that bad. Some people complaining of this are well within their right too as I I know what there going through

I fixed mine by adding more aggressive tires and a roof rack. Now I don’t know what the hell I'm hearing or feeling

Try a few tanks of 93. It won't hurt anything, but I swear it makes a noticeable difference in how these trucks drive. Others will tell you they don't notice anything, but it's worth a shot.

X2, I use only top tier 93 octane and my truck idles smoothly and has good acceleration. I do know that some of these trucks idle poorly when idling in gear with the air on. Mine had an issue for around 7K miles and resolved itself. I will add when filing up always stop on first click or you will get gas in the EVAP Canister and have problems with idle.

Done a lot of reading on vibrations here the last five years, don't remember this thread. Read the first and last of 131 pages and if I am correct no solution was found...

Mine also has the same vibration, you can see the hood rattling sometimes when it’s idling. Nothing wrong with it though, runs like a well oiled machine.

I like the truck feel of it and I assume it’s just part of the self cleaning the Atkinson V6 does, or the “diesel mode” as some people jokingly call it.

So I did a little dealer bouncing and test drove a few 2023 ORs with low mileage like mine, and guess what, they all had the same sensation to varying degrees. One of them was a 2022 and it was the worst of the bunch.

I guess I'll just have to be at peace with it, just relieved that it isn't a symptom of a bigger issue. I can mentally reconcile it being a trait of the truck knowing that I drove 4 different trucks and experienced it in all of them.

There are a number of people who have seen high octane gas help out with the vibes, including myself. However, over time either the vibes went away, or I don't notice them anymore, (I just use 87 E10 gas now generally) as I had totally forgot that I had the same concerns as you when I first got my truck until you started this thread.

My wife's 23 Highlander Platinum AWD hybrid is also vibey when the ICE is providing all the power, and my wife complains about it when she is running the AC (battery can't keep up with the draw). It appears that Toyota banishes any engineers that focus on ride quality to the Lexus division.

I have only heard these type of complaints from people that were used to driving sedans and then got a Tacoma as their first pickup.

I do take that into account. My RAV4 was smooth, this is a new experience for me. Also, not really complaining, just concerned something was wrong with it.

I filled with 91 a couple days ago, see if that does anything.

If you were not happy with it good on trading it in quick. Live is too short to drive something that ticks you off each day.

edit: opps got your posts mixed up with the other guy who traded his in

Exactly what I did, got rid of that nightmare. Worst vehicle I ever bought. Feel bad for the next poor soul who buys it. Guarantee the next owner will have that truck back to the dealer loads of times that’s how bad it was.

I read it too and got the answer pretty quick. It isn’t the be all end all, but it was the common consensus…

“On the driver side only, squeezed it right beside the TC. Well Before the pipe dips down under the TC into the conjoining one pipe. Tight fit but got it on right there. 2.5 inch exhaust clamp and damper is all you need.“

I’d like to see that too, I looked into this as a potential option but I wasn’t sure how to attach it

I guess Toyota has a broad range of what’s normal. Some people bought 3rd gens that were near the perfect more refined spectrum and others bought one that was on the complete other side with strong vibrations, rough idles, you name it. There’s been so many threads over the years about it this is the only conclusion I’ve come too. I believe this could possibly become a trend with the 4th gen as well.
