:hattip:Good morning everyone, big birthday party for my mother in law today, she turns 90. Healthy as a horse just has dementia, she’s a hoot to talk to. She loves to talk and tell stories. She’s from South Haven and every Friday my wife takes her for onion rings and ice cream, and a beach cruise. She loves to cruise the beach and bitch about the seagulls

Good morning :pccoffee: It is now after 0700 on a Sunday morning I believe it is time to go fire up the weed whacker before it warms up too much more.

It is all about money, follow the money. And the latest greatest fad. The cloud is all about SaaS - Software as a Service, it is supposed to save costs by not hosting all those servers and support people in house. No difference than outsourcing IT Staff to a third party to "save money". But as usual what Gartner Group and the big 3 consulting firms say is just fodder for Scott Adams and his Dilbert cartoons.

My first computer class in college was APL A Programing Language in 1976. Back when mainframes and dinosaurs ruled the earth. I work a lot at the command line and use a black background with green text, there is nothing wrong with green screens. You came in when Client Server was just taking off, empower the end user, blah blah, etc. Guess we are stuck with Client Server at this point just like we will be with SaaS. Up until a couple of years ago we still had 4 mainframes, owned not leased. It was a sad day when they retired them. More than half of our midrange computers are gone as well.

    Good Morning

    One positive note.
    It's National Ice Cream Day:thumbsup:

Yesterday I drove up to the U.P. of Michigan to attend a Celebration of Life for friend that I've know since I was a kid.
I didn't know if I should go or just send a card. I'm so glad I went. Saw people I haven't seen in years. 6 1/2 hours of driving for a 2 hour visit. My wife stayed home. I think she knew that I needed to do this myself.
This past week we meet with a lawyer to sign papers for our end of life wishes. I now know I don't want a church service or a funeral home service. Just a Celebration of Life at the house.

    Happy Birthday to her.
Next weekend we will be celebrating my FIL 90th birthday

At work the software used for work orders is PIMMS. Black screen and green text.
