New lights showed up a day early.

These are much nicer overall, a little simpler control, and much better light pattern.
All connections are a screw on connection, nice aluminum well threaded goes together easy and tight.

Just a mock up for now, busy with other things. I'll get to it later this week.

Prolly could have leveled them better for the pic, but oh well. You get the idea.

These are on/off, amber/white, with a passing function to make them flash. Perfect.

    Compared to first pair....

    I'll be keeping these.

just a couple of things tbh
Another fun day out riding! This time we got our whole group together! Went to old Missouri town for the photo game had a great breakfast at a small little cafe, went out to blip then promptly left to get our friends and go right back to blip lmao. After blip thou we went to get my photo for the picture game which I had to wait a goooood while since they are doing construction and wouldn't let me near that area so had to patiently wait for an hour lol. After we did that it led us on the chase to find one of the other entrances to the old subway station which led us all over KC to hunts and possible spots until we found it! Under a bank and behind a new wall housing ac ducts and a large fan to pull the air from the tunnel! You can even see the old AF paper that states a tour is happing and to please wait for the guide to come back! This place was bored up many years ago for safety reasons because the limestone was deteriorating and made it unsafe for people. After that we kinda just rode around stopped at the WW1 monument for a quick pic then went down to the plaza to get some boba and saw a couple neat cars like this viper and clean old cj jeep. Not to many miles but overall a good day that started out with awesome weather!

KS speeds are ignored it seems. Police don’t seem to mind me since I wear a helmet and it’s not a requirement. I’m over dressed all the way, so that I think buys me a pass lol

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I believe in moving with the flow and not so much the posted speed limit. I can't convince her otherwise. She always has people riding up behind her too close. I've also tried to convince her that it's dangerous for me to keep having to watch for her in my mirrors when she falls way behind. She needs to trust the leader and keep up. I don't necessarily speed but I don't use my brakes if it goes from 55 to 35. I just coast it out. She sees a 35 mph sign and does 35. It's a thing. We make it work.

Ever walk out and go dayum bae you sexy.... Happened this evening leaving the market.

Been riding the ole xt225 all weekend for various round town stuff. Love this bike. It's FAR better than the Grom, oh you wanna bebop in and out of traffic and park on sidewalks? no problem I'm small low and light, up and down a curb? Pssh I'm a dual sport with 21/18in rims and suspension to boot im born for this. Wanna go highway speeds of 70-75? I gotchu.

I enjoyed the heck out of my Grom and it's build but I really don't miss it at all.

My WR sucks at highway speeds, shakes and lifts from the fender in wind. I put milder 50/50 tires on it and still not great. I may have the tires balanced next swap, I have beads right now and its just unpleasant.

Going uphill I can barely maintain 55mph in the mountains haha.

I mean dont get me wrong... its NOT great at highways speeds compared to say my super tenere that laughs at 70mph. But the xt225 is SOOO much more stable at the 65-70mph range vs the lil grom and its tiny tires, not to mention even though it was a built 164cc grom, 70mph indicated (68ish actual) was W O T in a tuck on a good day with the grom.... the xt225 does 75 indicated (70-72ish actual) stable with throttle left to spare every day of the week. It is a big ole light sail with any crosswinds for sure and does get blown around.

ABSOLUTELY take the time to balance the tires, if you have rim locks (like the xt225 does in the rear) especially. I didnt realize HOW BAD a rimlock would unbalance a tire till I mounted the current set on the XT and went hell ill balance the rear. Took 3.2 OUNCES (18 5 gram weights) DIRECTLY across from the rim lock to balance the rear tire. It made the bike SOOOO much more smooth and stable that come next tire change on my WR450 ill be balancing those tires for the first time ever, even though it sees 99% off road.

THIS!!!!! Dedicated Dirt, Dedicated smaller around town bike, Dedicated Street/long distance canyon ripper. Choose whats best suits your needs in those categories.

As stated above its not amazing on the highway but so much better than any grom will ever be. My XT225 will bury the speedo at 85mph indicated (as long as there isnt any headwind) with how its been jetted, airbox/exhaust opened up. I have a +1 front sprocket I have been tempted to try out to reduce cruising rpms but tbh the 6 speed transmission with the stock gearing seems to be spot on from everything from really low speed single track stuff (thanks super low first gear), to city cruising, to highway speeds to 70mph.

Beads are okay at best, never perfect. Any bike ridden on the street really should have the tires balanced. It's not that difficult and can make riding much more pleasant. Only time I've used beads and been happy with the result was my ex's BMW F800ST with the single sided swingarm. We had no proper way to balance the rear wheel so we went the bead route and it worked. Only used them in that case as a last resort.

I have 4 bikes currently, just added the fourth bike at the end of last year, and you are 100% correct. Much as I like having several bikes my Buell and Honda last year were ridden a combined total of under 250 miles while my 2014 FJR covered over 18k miles. I just took the Honda and Buell out on Saturday for about 20 miles each.

I’ve always found 2-3 to suffice.

If you have one nice, one beater,
or one on road and one off,
    One around town, one highway,
    One commuter, one track.
    Whatever floats your fancy.

Plus a third that is always apart in pieces for me is fun to satisfy the modifying itch without having to sacrifice riding time to do so haha.

I’ve tried the one bike to do it all and have always ended up with one bike that doesn’t do either things I need all that well.

Helps that I like old beat up Japanese bikes that can be had for cheap. 3 beaters cost less than one new bike anymore!
