I would had purchase the bow from him if I knew he was selling. It was a 29 Matthew V3 and sold it for 650 without sight, was asking 800. Even at 800 with sight, that’s still pretty good deal.

Trust me David, I know how fortunate I am to have the quality deer hunting we have in the Midwest. Having said that, we also have a ton of outside hunting pressure thanks to an unlimited number of outfitters. My buddy I are doing something that’s deer hunting related year round, shed hunting, food plots, putting up and moving stands, trimming shooting lanes. Between the two of us we own and lease about 1500 acres, thankfully we’re both retired.
I know some people might think I’m unappreciative of what we have because I might say that deer needs another year or two. I’ve been deer hunting for 50 years now and shooting small or mediocre bucks just don’t do it for me anymore. Hunting means something different to everyone and what it means to me is, pursuing big bucks, if I want some meat I’ll shoot a doe or two. We put an incredible amount of time, money and effort into what we have and appreciate every bit of it.

Just was approved for a lifetime crossbow permit here in my home state and secured 5 acres of land that abuts conservation land. Going to be some good hunts going forward. Stay safe

lol brother I don’t think anyone in here thinks you’re taking a damn thing for granted! I certainly don’t. I just enjoy the eye candy and giving you a hard time via self deprecating humor

I know what it takes to maintain land to preserve the old style of hunting. I live next to a 10k acre outfitter with soundproof, heated, and AC blinds. Tons of pressure all around. And I guarantee I don’t put in half the work you do

Well, as of yesterday it is official - I am officially done archery hunting!! Gave my son my Ravin R15 crossbow and all the accessories for it. Tried to sell my Mathews DXT the previous week at a garage sale, but it didn't happen. But, since I tore my left biceps and rotator cuff several years ago, I can't come close to drawing it back at all. So after about 50 years +/- of bow hunting I am done.
Good luck to all you guys that will keep doing it and I will continue to live vicariously thru each of your hunts!!!

Sorry to hear that, I know I’ll be faced with that decision some day…not looking forward to it.
