    Any wildlife experts in here? I'm wondering if it was actually a high sierra fox, they're super endangered and fish & game estimates there are under 40 in the wild.

    I had a great week of the 4th. I went up to our annual family reunion on the Northern beaches or Oregon.
    First I set up the rear of my truck.


    I drove up solo and camped a night on Weaver Bally (near Weaverville, CA)

    I stopped for gas on the south end of Crescent City, CA (Elk Valley Casino) and found it appropriately named. There was a herd of over 40 elk cows!

    I continued up the coast

    and spent a night on the beach just north of Reedsport, OR.

    I played tourist, stopped at many of the viewpoints on the 101, and took the Three Capes Scenic Loop.

    I met up with my sons Saturday afternoon at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

    We then made our way to Gearhart to stay in a condo for the week.

    Next day I drove to Portland to pick up my wife. The rest of the week contained mild Fuckery, lots of day drinking (visits to Bridge and Tunnel bottle shop, Buoy Brewing, Fort George Brewery, and my favorite, Public Coast Brewery), a parade, fireworks, a couple of early mornings clamming, and lots of good times.

    We climbed the 164 step spiral staircase to the top of the Astoria Column

    Where we had a good view of everything including the 101 bridge to Washington

    Here my son demonstrates proper squat technique with a clam gun

    Local bald eagle for patriotism

    Where the patriot was roosting

    Bull elk in my cousin's yard

    Bragging about temps below 100F

    Killing time

    Seaside beach volleyball

    Massive amounts of fireworks, this is mild compared to what we and others were firing off all around.

    Love my wife

    On the way home my wife and I drove out past Mt. Hood

    and took 97 down the east side of the Cascades. The views of the mountains were amazing. The camera didn't do it justice from the 4Runner, so I'll just show Mt. Shasta.

    We made a few stops, including a street fair in Mt. Shasta City, and eventually got home 15 hours after we left Gearhart.
