Took a page out of the @RustyGreen playbook and went for a Sunday drive. Figured I’d get that recon done. I drove into VT and came up the way where I saw the washout yesterday. The route was mostly clear with some asphalt washout already filled. Here it is from the other side:

About a mile or two down the road, came across another site. From the equipment and amount of work done, the transfer station manager’s statement yesterday about the state not assessing the first one for at least a month made sense.

I’m not an engineer but I’d put $20 on the culvert in this last pic being in its original place. That was the width of the road.

I might try coming up the other way tomorrow after work to see if there are any more washouts. It’s nice though not to have the sites being actively being worked on.

    Back to original programming…

At that second washout, I met a guy who was doing the same thing I was. He was originally from the next town over, Littleton, and was visiting with his parents unrelated to the storm.

Come to find out he’s an airline pilot living in Houston where they’re no strangers to massive storms. Among other things, he said before the past 5-10 years, the big storm cells were typically up to 45,000 ft, nowadays, 60-65,000 is not unusual. I don’t think this bodes well for the future..

Helped my parents put new awnings on their house today. I don't see the point of them, they offer no shade. But.. mom likes them so that's what matters. 20240721_121434.jpg

Stephanie would say, I want to be dry when opening the door in the rain, but I don’t want to block any of the sunlight.

    Good morning everyone :hattip:

Looks like my power steering lines are in the same condition as my transmission lines were a while back:annoyed:

They're not too bad to change. My '09 had the same issue, although I never did swap them out as the frame was going bad real quick so that's when I bought my first 3rd gen.
