After the July Newbie run, we have had some more interest in another. This run will be out in Ardbeg where we will be running parts of the South Trail. Depending on how far everyone wants to run, it will be a good introduction and have some different offshoots for those who want to take it easy, or for those that want to play around.

When: Friday August 9-Sunday August 11

    Where:
    DAY 1 (Friday):
Campsite location for the first night is tentative. I am going to try and head up early Friday and maybe even Thursday to secure a spot. Details below:

45°38'16.5"N 80°10'13.5"W -> please see the map below, every person should park as compactly as possible, and make sure you don't block the waterfront area for vehicles to enter/exit. The red arrow is where you are going to enter Black Lake. Tents can be pitched behind in the woods or at the beach area. There are lots of parking options. A fire pit is going to be set up at the beach. Do not drive through the lake water.

    day 2

We will wait for those showing up Saturday morning and we will run some trails.

While there, we can run most of south trails and as mentioned there is everything from a rocky dirt road that is stock accessible to some other areas that require more clearance and armour. The Trail is easy to turnaround in and everyone can always head back to camp

    EDIT:
added some information from the OF4WD. Depending on people's trucks we won't be running all of south as it does get a bit more technical pass Black lake loop trail start. A stock truck can run it to that area, and stock trucks have run the entire trail.

    Trail Description
Trail starts just west of Ardbeg which is an old rail way town. Leading west into Black Lake riders can choose from heading north, North Ardbeg, trail or head south eventually ending up at hwy 124. This trail has something for everyone as it tracks along the hydro line right of way. Lots of rock and some low lying areas where the mud can get a little thick. Rock lines the sides of the trail allowing for you to critique your crawling skills. Camping along the trail is common especially at Black Lake.

    Cautions
Bolger Lake Cottagers Association has had issues in the past with large vehicles damaging the access road and trail to the lake. These cottages and families have been in the area for many years and are concerned with off-road use causing damage to the road and lakes in the area. Be courteous to other users and people on the trail.

    Trail Highlights
Camping, Swimming, lots of Rock. OF4WD clubs and members performed a major clean up of the area in 2011, support the Ardbeg local store and restaurant as they were a huge help.

    User Groups
    ATV, Dirt Bikes, Snowmobiles

    Terrain Type
Mix of Terrain, Mud, Open Trail, Rock, Short Water Crossing, Steep Rock

    Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Mild Suspension Lift 2inches, Min 31 Tires, Rear Tow Points

yup absolutely. I’m going to go up earlier to secure a spot. We will wait for you Saturday but depending on how far we are going we would most likely be on the trail for 10:30-11am….just keep me posted so we wait for ya.

Yeah. It could probably use some spray on waterproofing but other than that, it's fully functional
