    2021 White SR Utility
Hey all, I recently got my first Tacoma by picking up a White 2021 SR Utility package - former Orkin vehicle, based on all the brochures I found in the utility box. Truck's been treating me great so far, but the one issue I've got is that when in reverse, the truck's constantly beeping, regardless of whether I'm in an open field or two feet from a tree. The beeping does vary in frequency, ranging from slow beep to a constant tone, but it's never not beeping.

Here's the oddness - my understanding is that the SR trim doesn't have the ultrasonic backup sensors, utility package or no. I've seen the threads about the button below the HVAC controls to turn the beeping on and off - there's a cutout for the button, but no actual button. I did try pressing it to see if it just wasn't marked - no dice. Even stranger, looking at the bumper I only see two sensors on the outside corners - every picture I can find of the backup sensors shows two on each corner and two middle ones on either side of the license plate.

I'm not entirely sure what to do here. If I could get the sensors to work that would of course be preferable, but if I could just cut the wires or otherwise disable them so it's not beeping and not have the sensors that would be fine too. Any advice?

I own a 2017 SR. I am currently trying to figure out the same thing. I cannot find a way to shut mine off either, hence finding your post. Believe it or not my name is Zachary too. It looks like we are in the same boat. Hopefully we can get some insight as to how to cut this damn beeping off. Every time I put it in reverse my truck starts beeping and it gets annoying. I’m about ready to start cutting wires…

These are both former fleet vehicles? They might have backup alarms installed. Where's the beeping coming from?

It seems as if it is coming from the center console/ air conditioning unit on my 2017 SR. My truck was a former work truck and has the utility package on (no back seats/cargo storage). Does anyone know where this backup alarm would be at and how I could disengage this noise? My truck does have a backup camera and also has sensors for when I get to close to something it has a solid beep to alarm me that I am about to hit something.

There are a few different types of backup alarms. The simplest being a beeper integrated with the reverse light bulb. I would start there.

Then there could be a separate loudspeaker type somewhere likely at the back of the truck like behind the bumper or the taillight. Maybe something that looks like this.

When you have the taillight housing out, assuming you look for a beeper bulb first, check to see if something is spliced into the reverse light circuit.

The beeping is coming from the inside of my truck. It is not beeping on the outside (like a construction vehicle), where might the beeper be installed in the cabin at?
