Any recommendations for rear diff fluid to help with this or is it a waste of time and money to do it? Currently have 23 SR5 4x4 6,000 miles with this noise

Welcome to TW. 6k miles is very low. Don’t need to change it until 30k miles if you are rough on the truck or 60k with normal street driving. You’re probably still under warranty I’d take it to a dealer.

Thanks for the input. At this point I just want to get rid of the noise. Also debating if I should just buy the dampers or take it to the dealer.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Diff fluid change won't help. Just did mine three weeks ago and it sounds the same. It's a resonance issue the fluid can't solve. In a '23, I'd think you already have the updated dampers but worth checking.

It’ll last forever if you don’t mind the noise, it’s not gonna fail. GL

I’m on my 4th 3rd gen truck. They all have had the rear diff howl but my latest truck 21 SR crew cab 4x4 that I bought in March of this year with 29,000 miles. Bought truck with the factory steel wheels and replaced with some factory OEM SR5 wheels, that’s when the rear diff howl started. Question to yall, if you have the factory steel wheels, do you have the rear diff howl.

Anything I can do on a 2023 Automatic?
Consistent and frequent at same 50ish mph range towing on state highway, every time decelerate or coast.
Had not noticed so frequently around town or at highway speeds.

I can confirm that AmsOil 75W140 (in both the front and rear differentials) made a 0% improvement in the resonant noise on our two Tacoma's.

I had the same issue from day one of my ownership (2100k miles). I noticed it because my last vehicle, Honda Ridgeline did it. However it has been superseded by a the very loud harmonic sound of knobby tires at highway speed. But I'm on stock Goodyears! It came on over the weekend on a 250+ mile round trip. I'm at 11k miles. It builds up the further you drive. At times you can feel the vibration in the steering wheel and floorboards but not constantly.

Took it to the dealer today and they could not duplicate but documented the issue.

Stock OR wheels have whine. With steel winter wheels from my second gen and heavier AT tires it creates less noise.
