I'll float between B and C as I learn how to ride this R6 properly haha.

as for the tires...I think that is the tire itself. The girl I've been seeing has the same bike/tires she takes to the track and they get pretty melty like that even though I ride mine harder. What pressure do you run usually?

hook line and sinker, we got him!

I started the day at 32/30 cold, added about 2 PSI to both front and rear (front was 36 hot and still melty).

    Rear looks fine:

Might be too hot for the front, what were temps at the track? I typically run 30/30 cold on the R3, started at the same last time I was at Streets of Willow, and the daytime temps were anywhere between 90-100. Ended up dropping to 28/28 and it wore much better

Dave Moss told me to add more tire pressure. It was 106F at the track, surface was probably 140+.

welp i'm positive he knows more than me lol. that was just my experience.

it is a sport touring tire though, so that may explain the greasiness you felt.

I am very tempted to get some Pirelli Supercorsa SP's for the next day but I'm thinking I should just stick to these tires for now. I should do an oil change before next track day for sure though.

Install day. Interwebs says to put them as low as practical, get that light on the road and not in oncoming traffic.
Took 2 hours to decide on this location, after mounting it various ways.
Seems to give the best mix of keeping them apart, provides the triad, down low and somewhat protected in the event of a unscheduled get off. Doesn't interfere with the front turning or suspension. Actually will make it easier for wire routing, (I hope).

Next pics hopefully with them on and aimed at the garage door. :fingerscrossed:

hell yes. I've been there once, as a passenger in my brother's M3 on an open track day. such a blast.

Supercorsas are supposed to be the creme de la creme for a street legal track tire. That said they are pricey as hell. I was gonna put some on the R6 but between some other maintenance work I wanted to do, I went a little cheaper. Bridgestone RS10, which is what I have on the R3 and I love them. If you were open to suggestions lol

Do motorcycle tires have any indication other than the manufacturers description, on what kind of compound the rubber might be when comparing brands? Most automotive tires will have a tread wear rating for example that give you a loose idea that lower = more grip / less longevity, higher = less grip / greater longevity.

Looks good! I think that's a nice location for them.

Really? They're cheaper than Q5's for my bike lol

from what i've seen and learned during my limited experience, I haven't seen anything specific like that. Generally dual compound tires are made for more longevity (harder in the middle, softer on the sides for grip), while single compound is made for performance (soft all the way around, but won't last very long for say, commuting or touring).

I typically try to look at what the tire is built for (hyper/supersport, sport touring, etc) then kinda just go from reviews from there, or anecdotal experience of people who've used a tire i'm interested in. For reference I use sport touring tires on my commuter, and hypersport tires on my track bikes. Not quite at the level of slicks yet lol

Hm Q5's do seem to be pricier for the smaller tires for some reason. i've heard they take longer to heat up and get eaten up quickly, though YMMV.

ultimately any of the main brand sport or better category tires will perform great lol. I think at that point it's mostly wallet and personal preference.

Sadly no. I think with motorcycles something like that would be more difficult to do with any kind of accuracy whatsoever. Using my own main ride bike for example, 2014 FJR1300 using the Michelin PR4 GT spec tires and riding a blend of 2-up loaded for travel and solo use commuting I've been getting roughly 13k miles out of a pair of tires. I know other FJR owners in other states who have run the same tires and same tire pressure who are more aggressive than I am or live in a state with more abrasive road surfaces complaining they can't get even 8k miles out of them.

Yup. too many variables, between rider weight(s), riding style, type of bike it's being put on, where it's typically being ridden, etc. I think the best they can do is give you the best use it was designed for.

Even on forums I'll see people rave about getting 5-6k out of a Rear Road 6, when I usually seem to average about 8k or so on the same bike.

Welp, wish I saw this before ordering.

I did read reviews and a few that I saw, said they were getting about 7k out of the front. The tread is low to start. That kinda deferred me, and I ordered a Motoz Dual Venture. $133 shipped, I guess isnt that bad.
