POS second gen, was removing other components to get to the compressor, hadn't even touched it yet, just a bracket fitting for the lines when a seal blew about 3 inches from my face.

That. Sucked. I was smelling that shit in my nostrils for 3 days and getting high at, but not the good way. Drank a LOT of Rockstar the rest of the week to try and get the smell out of the back of my throat

Not too crusty, but definitely one of those owners who thinks that because he hasn't changed fluids in 175,000 miles, he'll never need to.

Just Joined up and wanted to post! Any recommendations for LKQ/Salvage yards in South central KS that might be a good source for some parts for a 2000 Tacoma?

 

Mid America is in Topeka but I've never actually been there.
Ordered tons of stuff through work though.....

Might be slim pickings for toyota pickups in junkyards. @Calamity_taco 's friend Patrick always seems to have junk parts though.

 

for pickups ya but he is normally going states away to get stuff for his runner. idk where he has gotten tacoma parts from tbh. ive seen a few at pick n pull and others but its very very rare!

 

I wonder if there are any around Wichita? I used to buy and sell turbo's and superchargers off of any and every vehicle I could find and had a good relationship with a few yards around Wichita years ago, most are out of business now unfortunately.

 

Vehicle age is the biggest problem. I used to get shit easily and quickly at work but there just aren't many 20 year old vehicles there anymore.
Also newer shit isn't made to salvage, made to destroy itself and get replaced.

 

I 100% agree, especially working in the industry. More people are protected and cars do their job, but then get scrapped.

 

ya the only ones that are showing up in junkyards now are welll the eco shit boxes nobody wants lol. i cant tell you how many i see dodge darts up at all n one! good for the gf since she has one of those turds!

 

Hyundai's and Kia's.... we are totaling pretty much any/all we can as they are nightmares being stolen 3-4 times a year.

I wish both companies would be fined in the BILLIONS as this is an epidemic and creating so much crime, headaches, financial issues for the owners.

 

honestly im shocked they havent been as well.. some of those cars look great and drive great! but with them being so easily stolen i wouldnt want one at alll!
