What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finally got around to doing the AC drain relocation, and the hose fit perfectly in to the slot on the side of the cat shield

 

I'm putting 25K in my schedule log to do that flush.
I had a 2005 Tacoma that I bought used with 200,000 miles on it to use as a farm truck. The fluid looked like thick coffee. Had to flush it 3 times before it flowed smoothly. Truck is still running but rarely leaves the property except to get tractor parts.

 

i absolutely filled the inner fenders with fluid film and sealed them up with silicone yes

 

Yikes. It's worth the $20 of DexMerc fluid to do this early especially with Tacos not having a great reputation with steering rack seal longevity.

 

Did some wheeling and camping. Great weekend. Also debuted my nomad kitchen set up and alu cab fridge slide. Big fan on the nomad kitchen so far.

love it since relatively light and secured with ratchet straps. So I can take them in and out seasonally since my truck is also my daily driver.

My own and tons of props out to the guys that do but for me with job and family stuff / 2 kids - time is tight as we all know

had the system in place with fridge pretty full while wheeling blue trails in rocky terrain New Hampshire and held up without any issues.

 

Bonis Creek and Topaz Mountain. Fun trail, in hindsight I always wish I took the long way. (Not driving off trail, this we a campsite)

 

Oh yeah. Also installed midland GMRS and loving it.

Got rid of midland harnes and used 12 ga marine grade wire by anchor direct to fuse block - ran that wire through grommet on driver side - used the dual wire like romex so real easy to push through grommet

ran antenna wire through the ac grommet and cut a slot out of that to ensure the ac hose wasn’t squished.

Gonna mount the mic wire in its own socket soon for a cleaner install but for now it’s fine under seat.

Side note used a desert does it bracket I had going in used / almost sold because I was gonna Mount my compressor with it but went under hood with slee bracket instead- was pumped to put it to use!

may switch to something magnetic getting in and out on trail can be fumbling but maybe I just need more time on the trail!!

also need to swap the set screws for shorter ones. Had some washers lying around from the coffee can. Love it when I dip into those things I have been saving ! Great dad feeling.

 

DS18 tweeters installed. All I can say is "Wow"!

 

Your suspension set up looks hella bad ass.

 

Got the silver shell wrapped, as well as the hood and roof. Took some of the scrap and matched the roof rack.

 

Scrubbed that dirty girl. Hit a swarm of grasshoppers driving from Tahoe to Portland, and the front dam was yellow when we got to the next town. I'd never used bug/tar foam, but it worked rather well. Only had to pull full bodies out of the grooves, and a few from under the hood.

 

Battery went kaput...replaced that and then did a "well, while I've got the hood popped..." with a power steering flush.

 

Looks great! I want to do the same for my Limited and replace my aftermarket aluminum skid with the TRD. Biggest value of these are the ability to change oil without removing it.

 

Finished and put on the true north diy hybrid bumper now time for some new lights

 

Your gonna want to trim your plastic bedliner. Mine rubbed and messed up the paint on my lock.

 

Seriously. Brass ones the size of basket balls.

Normally I've always been a Warn guy, but just picked up an Apex 12,000lb winch w/synthetic line, for about $600 or so and can honestly say it's been great. Only been less than 6 months, but so far so awesome, especially for the price.

 

What bracket did you use for those front lights?

 

I got a cheap one on sale from Amazon, I honestly don't care about the paint on the lock as long as it does it's job.

Thanks for the heads-up though, I'll watch to make sure it doesn't mess up the paint on truck.
