Another member mentioned that it's prone to chipping and the chipped surface will quickly rust.

Think it's best to just get the cheapest, 10.9 hardware, toss some anti-sieze on the threads completely, and hit it with some rattle can once torqued down.

I'm providing @Sand_In_My_Taco some bolts as they just arrived.

I welded the nuts on with the bolts torqued down to hold them in place and they are completely unscathed.

    20240721_154343.jpg

As long as new people chiming in refer to page one, the hardware dimensions are there.

Hardware choice will be up to them.

My situation is quite different from everyone else I’m sure since shipping to AK is crazy, but MC was $40 shipped for just the 14 zinc bolts. Fastenal was $30 for the bolts and 14 washers, with some kind of “upgraded” coating (ecoguard), which they claim is better than zinc or oxide. Would have been even cheaper with just zinc.
Both sites allowed exact numbers, didn’t need packs of 10 (I think? Could be wrong about MC. Fastenal allows odd numbers of hardware vs packs of 10. ~$1 a bolt for the allen zinc button heads, but plain ol’ zinc hex bolts are $2 locally ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    YMMV

Being that you're in AK, I don't mind sending you my personal hardware to save you the cost.

I just don't want anyone to think I'll be providing them hardware; it isn't cheap and I've invested quite a bit just for this project myself.

I just figured I could use the stuff I decided to keep for local work.

    You’re doing plenty!!
Very kind of you to offer though :D I already ordered the hardware lol
If you want to be a freight forwarder for some square plugs for light pod holes in a soon to be installed rear bumper so I don’t have to pay $30 to ship two pieces of plastic however…

I’m in… I realize I’m the only one, probably. I have another project for you, but I have to take some measurements/pictures first and wait for you to be out of the woods with this one first.

    Ha

I'll PM you my shipping address shortly.

You sure you don't need anything else made "while we're there?"

I don't advertise here to say I'm doing something but again I have many one-off requests for parts from forum members as I like to be much more flexible (and cheaper when possible) than SCS.

This last shipment better fit otherwise I'm taking a break until a truck shows up locally

It's much more accurate measuring in person.

I'm more curious about this internal bracket now.

I had done some additional measuring and found the holes were slightly off compared to the 16 gauge mock up for two reasons -

    1. The thickness of the 3/16" did play a small factor into the whole thing but

    2. The first bend line was based off the original DXF, whereas the second bend line was based off my own 3D modeling

So I had made a manual adjustment based on 1, and modeled the flange itself based on 2, which resulted in the two holes being exactly 3/16" offset.

Adding a hundredth of an inch diameter to the holes on the exterior bracket will allow for an additional 1/16" play in case anyone screws up drilling holes into the bed.

    Coming back to this.

Only way I can see this working is if you extend the center portion where you want the bottle opener, WAY out.

After doing that, you'll be able to use it as a bottle opener but then you've got something you can impale yourself with if you put your hand in the wrong place.

3/16" is too thick to allow any room whatsoever to get a bottle in that tight spot where you show in your picture.

    It won't work.

As for "original F bomb", you'll have to show me cause I do so many edits I don't recall what anyone likes.

LOL To be perfectly fair to @Kwikvette, that was a tossed together suggestion by me as a possible conflation of his original F-bomb with the tie down. The geometry is a guess at best.

Nice thing is, my air over hydraulic jack arrived which will make bending stuff quick.

Trip to Harbor Freight for a coupler so I can test it tomorrow - box was beat to shit so hoping it works well, though I'm glad there was no oil anywhere that had leaked out.

By Wednesday, the stiffeners should arrive so thinking we'll have our answer by the weekend.

I've been lurking and telling my self I don't need these. I do want them just don't need them. The f-bomb is a great design too.
