You think you have a head gasket issue? Are you getting water in your oil?

Not all HG failures wind up with the coolant in the oil or vice versa. Depends on the engine makeup. I've seen some really weird issues attributed to head gaskets and the coolant and oil looked clean o_O

Yeah don't panic yet..... Try the fixes we mentioned first. They are cheap & would have to be done anyway.

More than likely its a combo of the kinked hose & too low RPM.

If its a head gasket leak you should have water in the oil & it would be puffing in that radiator.
A little gurgle could be from a plug/kink in the hose or thermostat.

    No

I did notice this however last night. Upper hose definitely leaking. I would think that could definitely cause the bubbles?

When I got the B7100 I changed all the radiator hoses and belt along with all the fluids. Fix just might be that simple.

@koditten I’m back to working on my kohler, never have got it to run right. It starts on one cylinder then when you rev it up it’ll catch on both.

New head gaskets, has 125 lbs of compression on each cylinder, new coils, front one isn’t as bright as the back one with spark light tester.

    upload_2024-7-22_18-44-41.jpg

How can I test to see if these are good other than trying them on the engine. I think one is bad but not sure which. I know I can put one on and fire it up but I’d rather test them if there is a way.

    upload_2024-7-22_18-45-17.jpg

In the last year, I have put new head gaskets, new kohler coils, rebuilt the carb, new fuel lines, new kohler fuel pump, tried an electric fuel pump, new plugs, air filter is good. I’ve tried to sell it as is and got low balled so I took it off marketplace.

Is the SAM module going bad? Is it advancing the spark during start up but not returning to normal when high rpms are called for?

I don’t know anything about it, I’ll do some searching and see what I can find. That is, unless you want to tell me about it :D

Some of the Kohler's had a spark advanced module system. It consisted of a solid state box that was screwed to the engine cover near the #2 head.

Module goes bad and the spark stays in an advanced state.

There is a repair recall for these engines.

It consisted of 2 new coils and a new flywheel.

I can't tell if your engine is one of those or not.
