2024 Tacoma3rd brake light feed

I’m actually caught up right now. Going to help a friend with electric work this evening and behind at work but I if the queue doesn’t flood I bet I can knock out some T’s tomorrow or even a PnP Curt if you can live with the delay

I appreciate the bump. It wasn’t on my radar but I did manage to catch up. It’s now back on my radar. I wish I had a better way to track R&D projects like this.

 

I connected my 2024 Alu-cab 3rd brake light with a T-splice connector on the passenger side. I used the white blue wire. I would like to purchase your solution once you have it available. That way long term, I don’t need to worry that splice will cut through.

F it, I don’t have white w blue anyway so I’ll go pink on driver side and solid blue on passenger. I got started but then got interrupted. Good news is that it’s on the bench now so should be able to finish tomorrow though tomorrow afternoon is nuts too.

@caribe makaira helped out and I think what I sent will have blue for brake and turn on passenger side then pink on driver side. But I think the pink should be tan to match. My greens will be different from factory, dark green on mine being parking lights on both sides. Reverse is then light green and red.

I’ll adjust my template a bit. Strange color choices by Toyota.

Yep, it flashes when the right signal is on. What color is the brake only wire?

 

The issue is that the 4th Gen combines the stop & turn to the rear lamp assemblies same as if they were the trailer circuit. No getting around that.

I have a 2021 SR 4x4 - I moved my GFC camper to the truck. I wen to hook up the 3rd brake light - Under the drivers side at the rear corner under the bumper is a open connector. See photo - Is this for a brake light? can I buy a plug instead of tapping the brake light wires?

 

No, that is for the parking sensors and cross traffic system I believe. No brake signals there. @caribe makaira will confirm for you.

Grey is plate lights and BSM.

Also, this is a 2024 specific thread so not ideal for your third gen specifics as 4th gen adds complications for toppers as noted here in this thread.

 

David is correct, that connector is not for brake circuit. Parking sensors and Blind Spot Monitor System sensors.
