I recently bought a new Tacoma, but I never put it in 4x4 before I bought it or tried 4x4 on any of the trucks I test drove. When I got it home I was playing with the 4x4, and I am wondering if it is normal for it to not go into 4 low from 2 high when stopped and in neutral with the clutch in or out (tried both). It has no problem from 2 hi to 4 hi, then 4 hi to 4 low. It also makes a clunk when shifting the transfercase. The rear diff lock also seems slow, but I am more familiar with ARB lockers and manual shift transfercases. Please tell me if this is normal, or if it is something that I will need to take back to the dealer. The truck only has 1000 miles on it.

It also has an occasional slight vibration at idle, but I think that is normal because most of the trucks I test drove had a small vibe.

    Thanks for the help

    A few bolts are different.
You must be in 4Hi before the case will shift to 4Lo. In neutral and clutch all the way to the floor if you have a manual. E-Locker is slower to engage versus an ARB all day long.

Normal. Has to go into 4hi before 4lo is available. :)

I think after you get in 4HI (while rolling) you then have to stop (or 2mph) before putting in 4LO (4LO engages after you move a few feet)
