What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

‘09 ACCESS w/248K on the clock I picked up this past weekend. My son originally bought it in Portland ME in ‘21 and sold it to his brother-in-law in ‘22 when he moved back to Maui. My daughter and son-in-law are adding a son to the family and they needed a more “family sized” vehicle. I bought it from him and it needs a lot of work, but I got it at a good price point.
Today I washed, waxed (old school paste) detailed the interior, peeled off decals, removed a headache rack and took stock of what needs to be done in the next few months.
*Cat back exhaust, struts and shocks, tires, rack and pinion boots, headlights, license plate lights, fog lights, bug deflector, antenna and antenna base nut, tailgate assist shock/strut.
I’ll post progress.

 

Replaced lower control arms and tie rods but found that the control arm mounts on both sides had cracks in the welds. Hopefully the new welds hold up. The control arms are Mevotech TTX and were only $130 on rockauto

 

Sealed up my bed cubbies with some small PVC scraps and some silicone

 

I did the same thing, sealed all the holes in the cubbies. If you haven't considered it, I also ran a bead of silicone around the sealing surface between the cubby and the bed before I installed them. Now they stay as clean as the bed does.

 

Yeah I definetely will be sealing that too when I reinstall tonight or tommorow

 

This is one of my next projects for my taco & 4Runner. They look good. I will too be using the 3rd gen for the overlay

 

Cut a chunk off of an irreplaceable trd supercharger to fit a 2.7 pulley.
Mounted tank and pump for meth, had to order a nozzle adapter for intake boot instead of hard pipe.

 

Went back to my stock headlights, gonna do the ultimate headlight upgrade.

That being said, the others are still functional albeit a dead passenger bulb or ballast. Gonna throw them out there if anyone wants them for a nominal fee and shipping.

 

Nice! Ive been looking at those. Anyone recommend them to you or just saw them?

 

Swapped out the sun damaged belt molding on the windows today, it was a pretty easy and quick to do job.

Stripped down the back wall, under seat storage and “C” pillars. Going to start sound deadening tomorrow.

 

Volant intake, yes defeats the whole purpose of the snorkel. Luckily for me, if I plan on hitting any deep waters, just simply remove the front intake and plug the box.

Luckily for me the brake line came loose with a little bit of heat.

Would you happen to have a link for those for the back windows next to the bed of the truck?

 

What headlights do you have? Are those the TRD pro "smoked" headlights?

 

Are you referring to the belt molding for the rear doors? If so I got those as part of the kit (all 4) I listed above but I don't have the numbers seperately for the rear doors, I just searched tacoma belt molding on Amazon.

 

No the very back windows with the sliding window that opens out to the truck bed.
