Long Travel BS Thread

    So I got my coilovers apart to adjust valving for the bypasses.

    2 of the bleed holes were open, so I opened up the 3rd one.

    Already has a flutter stack.

    Is this valving going to play nicely with bypasses?

    Really need to know the thickness and diameter of each shim. Though the top one seems to be an 18 stack

    I would go straight 12’s on rebound. Compression is fine to start with.

    Would the thinner shims make rebound faster?

    On the bypass a good starting point would also be 15 comp 12 rebound. No flutter. Having valving in both shocks is a different world entirely. You won’t regret trying it!

    So keep compression the way it is?

    I would personally, then go 15/12 on the bypass. Not saying it’s going to be perfect but it’s a dang good starting point.

    So when you say straight 12s, every shim will have a thickness of .012 correct?

    On rebound side. Correct. You can buy straight packs from poly performance. Always been the route I go.

    So when you see the videos of trucks being dropped from a strap or off of a ledge and the rear suspension just soaks it up and rebounds slowly, what type of valving is at play here?

    Mine does that with 15/8 valving in the rear 16in triple bypass shocks I have. The rebound tube is set about 4 turns from full open.
    Though that looks cool. It doesn’t translate to how your truck performs in the whoops. At speed the forces on your shocks are much different.

    Yup this, if your rebound is too slow when you hit consecutive bumps the suspension does not rebound quick enough / return to position between the bumps to absorb the next bump which is called stacking and it's bad news
