Last year Costco had Jackery combo solar and battery systems on sale at a price that tempted me. Looks like they carry them now as a stock item I see 3K and 4K ones, plus smaller ones. $300 off the 1.5K right now https://www.costco.com/generators.h...eryFacetFlag=true&refine=||Brand_attr-Jackery

I’m thinking one of the smaller ones and with the inverter we already have to keep it charged it’s a simple solution for continuous power. I’ve got the little fridge in the 4Runner now but every time you shut down to go in somewhere it cuts off. But after it’s cold and you have a few things in it you don’t lose much ground. But overnight you’ll probably ruin some things if you don’t come up with something to power it.

I was researching some of these battery packs to extend my home power outage setup, so I didn’t have to wait for weather to clear before setting up my gas genny. Ecoflow seems to end up being at the top of most ratings. They had a lot of setups on sale for Amazon days, not sure if they still are or not. I ended up buying a 4k setup and a 400W panel for the house. Keep an eye on the weight of these items though as you know batteries are not light, and I found that good sized panels are also not light. My 4k setup is 50lbs for the main unit, 50 lbs for an extra battery and the “portable” panel is another 50 lbs.

I’m looking at these setups as well, really like the solar ability.

    Good morning everybody, happy Friday-eve!

Busy day yesterday, started off babysitting the grandkids and didn’t slow down until about 8:30 last night. Then it was study time for my ham radio license test this weekend and bed time. Today looks to be a bit slower paced :fingerscrossed:

Marty, I have a buddy with a setup like that. He started out with the small Jackery (350-500 watts or amp hours, not sure how they rate them) and found out it wouldn’t run his 45L fridge all night in warmer temps. He upgraded to the 1500 size and it’s doing ok with a couple of caveats.

You need to do a 400w anytime mod on the factory inverter so you get full power out of it while driving and it takes a while to charge up the power used during the night. Don’t expect to idle the truck 10-15 minutes and top it off. You MUST remember to turn the inverter back on after you shut the truck down while driving, that’s bit him a few times. If you’re driven several hours each day this method works fine.

If you’re sitting in one location for day or two you will need to get a solar panel to keep the battery going. A 100-200 watt panel works fine. Since your are fishing most of the day this will be a must for you IMO.

He still has the smaller Jackery and takes it too to run lights and other stuff around the camp. It’s also his backup in case he does forget to charge up the big one for some reason.

Thanks Paul. I’m testing for Technician but I’ve already got the HF bug after doing a POTA with the local club a few months ago so I’m sure General will happen pretty quick.

It was a ecoflow river 2 max I was bidding on someone else was willing to pay nearly what I could get one on Amazon. So I let them have it. After looking at them I believe the same series but the pro will probably fulfill my needs. It’s compact pretty light and just running a fridge I should get enough runtime to accomplish what I’m trying to do.
