    Do it!

You will find more uses for it than lifting cars.

I have a 2 post and mid lift scissor lift.

I use the scissor lift much than the 2 post lift, plus it can be moved anywhere there is concrete.

You don't need 12' ceilings or extra thick concrete.Screenshot_20240725-084302.png

Challenger is a premium quality lift, the company is owned by the Snap-on group, US made and ALI Certified.
You will find them in many dealerships & commercial garages.

Your local NAPA store has access to Challenger products (others too). Usually you won't pay any freight for delivery to the store and generally there is a store in your area with a forklift so they can load on your trailer.

I know @Jtcmedic said he'd like to hear the back story on us selling our place so here goes. I'll try to make it short and sweet.

We had a house and store on the same 1.27 acres, it was zoned residential. It was built in the 1950's and times changed so the store was grandfathered in under the house. We paid property taxes on the house only, not the store even though they had 2 separate addresses. They shared a well but had separate septic tanks.

We wanted to sell. We tried 3 realtors and finally said enough is enough and put it for sale by owner......and learned a lot through it all. From when we listed it the 1st time to when we sold was about 8 years.

None of the many people who wanted it could get a loan since it was residential with a commercial property. Many tried, never worked.

We went under contract February, 2023 with people we had been talking with, we got a small (our mistake) non-refundable deposit while they did their due diligence. We were supposed to close the end of March, 2023.

They got a guy to come do some inspections, he also got a water sample (we didn't think anything about it).

We get a call from the county saying do not drink our water they found something in it which turns out it was a scavenger used in leaded gasoline which was banned in the 1980's so the state steps in and tells us we have to do a full site inspection. Turns out the same chemical was used in pesticides for tobacco which was all around us through the years as well.

That means we had to have 12 holes dug around our pumps and tanks, 10' deep with a mobile lab on site to test the soil, immediately. The lab came out of Wilmington.

Thank God our testing passed, nothing found. We got 60% of our test money back from the state since they ordered us to have it done and passed. Had we not passed we would have been footing the bill and had a lot more expense to dig up tanks, etc.

We had a filter put on our water and the county said we were good, no further testing needed. Thanks be to God again for that.

After these test, the buyers said we don't want to buy it. The small deposit we got was nothing to them, lesson learned.

Fast forward a couple months the guys wife messages my wife and says she wants to buy the place and has X amount, we talked, my wife got the price up $5,000 more and we agreed to a faster sale with a huge non refundable deposit. We didn't believe she was keeping it a secret from her husband cause she wasn't but we played the game.

We closed one year ago today on that place, we already had our new place under contract and were about to lose it cause we couldn't put anymore down to hold it.

We had it in our contract after closing we could stay in the house for 30 days so we could close on the new place and move.

We were there for about 2 weeks before we got to move in to the new place.

Looking back it was a test of our faith, it all worked out the way it was supposed to and the people who bought our old place haven't done anything with it. They tore the building down and are about to tear the house down. Not sure what the plan is with the store. Doesn't make any difference to us, it's their baby now.

So thankful to be living in Virginia :D
