For those that have a 4th gen Taco what has been your experience and what issues have you had? I had 6 Tacoma's (2004, 2008, 2011,2014, 2019 and 2021) before the 2023 Tundra. But with the engine issues (mine is not part of recall yet March 23 build) but I am very curious what you think of your 4th gen and if you have had any grille shutter malfunctions, CEL's or anthing else.

I have been loving mine so far like you this is my 6th one. This one is an offroad base manual before this I had a 18 Pro. I have had a few back surgeries and I find the seating position for me is 100% better. 6700km and no problems as of yet. I could see the inside plastic possibly scratching very easy the gauge cluster does the same as the 3rd gen but I put on the screen Protech covers.

No none at all. From what I understand they have a thicker glass then other Toyota's. It was on TRD Jons video. 1 small stupid quirk is you get three screens to change between and its a bit of a know thing is if you have tire pressure on 1 of the screens it changes once in awhile to a trip setting.

I let go of my April 24 Tundra Limited OR in January while it was still worth a dang. Happy with the taco I picked up a month ago. Completely solid and travels very well, new engine/trans benefits especially noticeable during hill/mountain climbs. Interior is “fresh” with the new design that’s pretty good overall.

2100 miles on my M/T trd sport here, no issues or rattles and loving my truck. I'm still doing the head turn when I get out to check her out as I walk away. lol

My main concern going forward is will engine issues pop up like the tundra later in the game. At first it was a batch the turbo wastegate issue then now as of May 2024 all sorts are having actual engine failures not turbo failures. We are seeing 2024 Tundras affected which to me seems like the recall has not been fully addressed to the model years fully yet. I think 2024's are not included yet as would probably cause a stop sale which Toyota and dealerships wouldn't want. So I am wishing and hoping the Taco doesn't fall into the same issues, which has me reluctant. I love the center console on the taco vs the tundra and love the door panels vs the tundra in terms of rattles and creaks. The tundra is horrible and I mean horrible with rattles.

Fellow March 2023 build Tundra here. Not a single creak, rattle, or issue. Weird that we have such dissimilar trucks when they presumably went down the line nearly at the same time?

Maybe there is something to the whole "assembled on a Monday or Friday" thing.

Back on topic: Glad to see the execution of the 2024 Taco is going a lot better than Tundra. The issues In seeing here so far appear to be of less concern than the 2016 Gen 3 launch.

My April 23 tundra was solid, absolutely 0 build quality issues. I’m still active on the tundra forums and many members feel the same as you about the future question of reliability. Toyota has do go big on their engine recall response or they will gut the tundra market for this gen. Many hope for a new long block instead of a short block rebuild like they have been doing for folks whose engines cratered. If they do, people will have confidence to buy or at least hold their tundras. I do miss it. It was a nice truck.

The taco is a completely different engine design. While Toyota pushed the Tundra v6 to super high hp and tq, they didn’t twin turbo the Tacoma. They publicly discuss how they designed around cooling the engine. Heat is the enemy so I feel confident that the taco engine will last. Cool and not crazy stressed with super high output.

So far so good. I really like the new engine/transmission, it rides so much smoother. I love the new style, especially the interior. So far, my dislike list isn't too long. I do not like the felt fender liners in the front wheel well. I did not like the front spoiler. I have removed it, but I have the whistling noise going down the road now. I have plans to install a factory skid plate at some point to resolve that. I have not seen this issue posted elsewhere but I use the car wash to keep the truck clean. No judgements for that, I just don't have the time or place to handwash. Anyway, the high-pressure water when the truck is being rinsed does cause a few drops of water to leak through the sunroof.
My only concern really is how well everything holds up, and only time is going to tell that. If I was offered the keys to my 22 Tacoma, I would not swap back. It was an excellent truck. I just like the new one more.

In my still short period of ownership there are 0 problems. It has a paint run spot that would probably bother some but I didn't buy a pavement pansy. My version of clay treatment is being a trail builder and sometimes private ski area crew. No rattles, no leaks (it won't fit in my garage), it handles well. Maybe it will get a carwash today or soon where I think this shutter issue has occurred, but it has already been drenched in storms, been in deep puddles, traversed ski area service roads, and it likely has a trail work session later today.

Why people buy these things varies a lot. I've got no regrets so far. It was hard to not choose a long bed TRD OR for my needs. Nothing else had the capability, safety and features. Mine's as much work vehicle as my transportation. I'm not purposely abusive but it's a light truck.

Reliability/Quality was my biggest concern as well. Toyota really screwed the pooch with the Gen 3 Tundra in my opinion. The milling debris is isolated to the 3.4 TT so I’m pretty confident with the new Tacomas reliability. I have 3400 miles on my gen 4 Tacoma and it’s tight. Power train is smooth. It’s been on a lot of washboard gravel roads, no rattling or squeaking. My only concern is the integrated bump stops on the front shocks? There has been a few that blew out of the top. Mine have taken some good hits and are holding up for now. Icon has a simple fix already hopefully they will ship soon?

No issues thus far, running like a champ, except the 14" audio knob broke off. Toyo made good on it and it's on order. However, one annoyance, is the a/c stays on even with the switch off. Although I finally figured it out - you need to cycle the a/c button, on/off to turn off the compressor.

Make sure to hit up mace manufacturing for the 14" knob. They have perfected that issue. :)

Keep kidding yourself of that, literally transmissions needing replaced already, the active grill sensor issues, and a slew of cracked A/C evaps that require the whole dash removed. Its way early still just like the 3rd gen Tundra, not enough on the road or for long enough to really see what is in store. But so far it has not been flawless and certainly not better than the 3rd gen roll out.

March 2024 build date here. 4200 miles and love it. No problems yet. The only thing i really hate about it is the fuel tank capacity. They really screwed us on that one.

The thing is the remedy involves tearing apart a ton of the truck and being without the truck for sometime. It doesn't address if family is on a trip 15 hours away and breaks down. That is something as a Toyota owner of over 25 Toyotas in my lifetime I never had to worry about. Also what is weird to me is they still have not included all 2023's nor 2024's when I have seen over 20 that had complete failure on 2023 and 2024 models. To me that was to avoid a stop sale of sorts on remaining new 2023's and 2024's on the lots and will be included at a later date.

bro the range secondary to the gas tank size is my only gripe/complaint. I'm going from a 400+ mile range to like 280 now. Still love the truck though.

Just curious as to why you bought so many vehicles in such a short period of time. Seems extremely costly. My guess is that after SEVEN vehicles since 2004, there's a GREAT chance that you won't be happy with your next vehicle?
