That said, I will forever be weary of able-bodied adults living in the suburbs who chose not to get a driver’s license. People living in the city are totally different, because they tend to be self-sufficient and rely on public transportation. People with legit medical issues like blindness and paralysis are also totally different, because they often also tend to be self-sufficient despite needing a lot of help…

I am talking about losers like the guy who Anna used to date, who just chose not to drive and try to jawbone friends into driving them around

No need to have a car if you don't have money for a car, money for insurance, or someone willing able to loan you their car to learn on.

Then there are those that just continuously make bad choices, which leads to them not being able to get a license.
Those people annoy me. But only when they make it a habit of "asking me" to take them places.

Then there are a few occasions where I just didn't want the person back in my truck.
I kind of feel bad for not helping "more". I don't do "filth" too well. Odors and general bad hygiene I can't do.
Some of them didn't know any better. They were raised that way. But still.......

In 2012, I banned the aforementioned 37-year old Aspie from riding in my truck due to foot odor that he wouldn’t address…

On the opposite end of the spectrum from the people who chose not to drive even though are capable of doing so, would be a disturbingly large number of so-called “special needs” individuals. When I was in middle school and high school, a good number of the special needs kids (lower-functioning/nonverbal autistic, Down syndrome, mentally retarded, etc) were weasels who wanted the adults to think they were dumber than they actually were.

We lived in Northern Virginia from 2002 to 2005, during which time I was in my final year of middle school and the first two years of high school.

I went to school with this kid named Brendan Reed from 8th through 10th grade, who wasn’t intellectually disabled, but had some sort of neurological disorder that affected his speech and mobility; I forget what it was, but he was fairly self-sufficient. He was a bitter asshole most of the time, and decided for whatever reason that he didn’t like me.

One time in high school, while we were in the hallway, he said “Hey Charlie” and flipped me off when I looked at him. I told a teacher about this, and the teacher didn’t believe me because “Brendan was incapable of giving the finger due to his disability.” He did have trouble holding a pen due to his neurological issues, but I was not seeing things when he flipped me off.

One of my favorite things to do at school in my spare time was draw pictures of cars and trucks; Brendan once grabbed a drawing of a truck off my desk in study hall while I was in the bathroom and crumpled it up while nobody was looking. I came back and was utterly dumbfounded as to what had happened until Brendan told me that he had done it just to be mean (at least he was honest), but once again I had no recourse because no teacher believed he had enough control of his hands to do such a thing!

    :annoyed:

Cam is the other Huntress I was trying to remember, she is a hottie

I think getting a license is wise even if you don't plan to own a vehicle, comes in handy occasionally plus if you do go to buy a car down the line the insurance could probably be less money.

I relate re the leaning on me to always drive them around. Had a couple of friendships go sour from that which I'll post more on later.

Once again, while I was 9th or 10th grade in Northern Virginia, there was a kid with Down syndrome. He was in my gym class and was once goaded into dropping his pants and mooning a group of guys. He was never caught by a teacher, but this earned him the nickname “Full Moon” for the rest of the year. He did not like this nickname, and I feel bad for calling him by that name, but he had no excuse for what he did…

He walked into the bathroom one time during gym class while I was walking to the urinal. I said “How’s it going, Full Moon?”

He responded by calling me a bitch and throwing the tennis racket he was holding at me. The tennis racket hit me in the head so hard that I thought it snapped in half, and it landed in the urinal I was using.

If this guy hadn’t been intellectually disabled, I would have beaten his ass on the spot. That’s literally the only the reason I didn’t clobber him right there. He probably thought he was about to get a thorough beating, and all he could do was stand there in terror as I spun around and glared at him.

I ultimately decided to be the bigger man, stormed out of the bathroom, and went to tell the gym teacher; I even admitted to the teacher that I’d sorta provoked him by calling him “Full Moon”, but I didn’t get in any trouble while he got suspended from school for a week.

Cam and I were both born in 1989 and she’s only six months younger than me. We have known each other since she was 18 and I was 19, and I’ve always found her attractive. I was actively trying to get her to go out with me mere months before I reconnected with and started dating Amanda. The above pics of Cam as a zombie huntress were taken in October 2022, the day before my head gasket went kaboom and three months before Amanda and I went on our first date; Amanda and Colleen hit it off almost immediately and are now BFFs!

Another thing I’d like to point out about people with autism is that they are either highly promiscuous or they are very shy and guarded about sexuality and having a relationship. I have a friend with Aspergers who has a great job, a driver’s license, a couple cars, and a nice house. He is like 44 and still a virgin. I know a lot of people on the spectrum who are in their 30s and still virgins.

I will not tell you exactly how old I was when I finally lost my virginity, but I was over the age of 24; I attribute it to shyness and a lack of social skills.

I do not judge anybody based on whether or not they’ve had sex, nor do I judge people for having many sexual partners (as long as nobody is underage).

On the opposite end of the sexual spectrum, there are the incredibly promiscuous autistic individuals.

For someone who had long hair in High School. I didn't have too many problems with people.
I only got in to one fight. And it had nothing to do with being "bullied or picked on".
I was friends with the guy I got into a fight with......

Mostly, I just went to school, hung out with the same few friends, and went to work.

    Who's Colleen..or is that Cam's real name?

Can confirm. In general, I found this true. When I was 19-20 and worked at the clothes store we had a couple of employees from a local school for special needs people.

Mary was the first one, she worked 5 hours one day per week. Couldn't have her run the cash register but she could handle most of the basics with some teaching and working together. She was about 20 and mentioned she had dated before, nothing more specific. She was a very nice person and fit in well with myself and the rest of the staff. Was sad they had to let her go after a while but hours were cut and there was little choice.

Not Mary's fault, but her caseworker after a while became an issue. Mary always worked 10-3 on Wednesday (which is what was requested) so it was known unless she asked for the day off that was the expectation. The caseworker about 2 months in began getting her to work very late, as in 2 hours or so. No call or anything prior or explanation given until the manager reached out and was told matter of factly "oh she had a doctor's appointment". My manager told the caseworker that's fine if stuff comes up of course but a call is expected if life happens. Next 3 weeks in a row the same stuff. Tough situation as it wasn't Mary's fault at all.

A while after she was let go (maybe 6-9 months) we had more hours and my manager reached out to the school again, Mary had another job but another lady named Sherri was looking. Same duties etc as Mary and she had a different caseworker who took the schedule and such seriously. Sherri could be a little inappropriate at times, not to customers but would call some of us ugly, stupid, etc. Not sure how it came up but she had a child several years prior (she was 22 at the time of hire). I figured that would be some common ground when she said she put her child up for adoption and told her that I was an adopted child as well, she made some remark about my parents not wanting me..ugh.

Several months in she stole money from my jacket in the break room. She would bring a packed lunch and no money but oddly that day was buying candy from the machine right and left, and I later found money missing. They didn't fire her but I asked not to work with her again.

Also, I have an autistic friend who's a few years older than me and still a virgin as far as I know, and I get the feeling that he's jealous of the relationship I have with Amanda...

    I suspected.

That can be tough in general, an old girlfriend and one of my best friends never liked each other. I don't think either one gave the other a chance, though she tried a little bit and he didn't seem to as much.

Amanda and my friend like each other just fine, though Amanda gets a bit annoyed by this friend's antics sometimes, but I think he's annoyed that we're both 35 and he has yet to get laid; I feel like being 25 or older and still being a virgin is getting more and more common...

My mechanic’s shop has mice all over the property, and one unfortunate mouse made a home in my old transmission without anybody knowing; I found said mouse dead in the bed of my truck this morning, and it had injuries consistent with being crushed by a large object, like a transmission.

I have no idea where else the mouse would have come from, and it didn’t look like it had been dead for long. The transmission gets jostled around in the bed of my truck, and I believe that mouse got jostled out of wherever it was hiding, only to be crushed to death; I saw what I thought was a dead animal when I got in the truck this morning, but thought I was seeing things. I discovered the mouse when I glanced into the bed in the Wawa parking lot, grabbed an old Starbucks bag that happened to be in the truck, and promptly disposed of the carcass in a nearby garbage can.

This is also not the first time I’ve ended up with a mouse in the bed of my Tacoma, though the first one was still alive and escaped…

I don’t know how I missed it before, but the mouse came out of the transmission on Tuesday morning; I’m thinking that it got poisoned by the residual transmission fluid rather than getting crushed…

So, tonight the other driver was still the one at fault, but the shoe was on the other foot; I dropped off Amanda after we left work and was driving back home. I'd left Amanda's like two minutes earlier and had our friend Helen on Bluetooth. There's a Wawa on 202/Butler Avenue right before County Line Road, with a light-controlled intersection; I had a green light. A guy in a black Tahoe was waiting to make a right turn, which is not illegal at that intersection if the coast is clear. He proceeded to pull out in front of me; I hit the brakes, laid on the horn, and screamed "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?" with my 80-year old friend on the line. I then threw up my hands in a "WTF?" way as I drove past the Tahoe. I was turning left onto County Line to go home, and seconds later, the Tahoe roared past me on the right, going straight. The driver, who I'd guess was probably in his late 50s or early 60s, flipped me off as he drove by.

What should I do about my friend's jealousy? As stated above, I'm pretty sure this is more about sex than an entering a long-term relationship.

Tell him you're not gay. And he can't sleep with your girlfriend.

    Sounds reasonable enough to me?
