Nissan frontier is the cockroach old truck here. I have a first gen that lives in my neighborhood, but outside of his, they are painfully rare.

I pretty much determined that ad lineage is the determining factor in car and truck of the year “competitions.” That and MT’s infamous crowning of the Renault LeCar. Oui oui?

You're gonna have to wait a while to see a 2024 truck with 200,000 miles on the clock.

I saw a colorado ZR2 Today, silver truck with the beadlocks and champagne color rings. There was also a deep red Z71 or LT. Dealership was taking them and a couple Tahoes to get gas.
Looked just like any other Colorado but bigger tires. There was a few pieces of foam stuck to it, guessing to protect the badging which is probably the most distinct part of the truck. I thought it looked good, I didn't get a look at the front bumper, the bed didn't have any accessories that I could see.

    Edit

    This could be it.

My neighbor's trailboss is pretty sweet. But I can't wait to park my trailhunter across the street.

Going on everything I've watched, read, seen, etc (never driven any of these), I'd probably do the new Tacoma last - heavily considering price. Actually it'd be hard not to seriously consider the Frontier among all these. It does get a NA V6, and is comparably cheap. I won't buy any of them 'till we start to see some reliable reliability though. Turbos are fine & all, but I don't want one. I need a truck that's better at being a truck than it is a luxury emotional support vehicle.

The dash on the GM trucks scare me, it's so big and pretty it's got to break. I can't recall if the base Colorad gets a dash with gauges or any thing less tech? There's also the lack of a headlight switch. The dash failing wouldn't be as bad as something in the drivetrain. I'm not sold on a GM gas turbo either. Ranger looks halfway decent it's pricey and too few if them to see any incentives and discounts. There's also the lack of extended cab on both GM and Ford. I kind of like the Frontier, no tilt wheel always comes to mind, and I like the idea of the NA V6 but would I miss the turbo torque? The 6 is the Frontiers best feature and worst feature, once turbo becomes more common the NA vehiles won't handle traffic like the boosted vehicles will. Nissan is probably working on some t4 to put in the Frontier, maybe they'll offer both. And like every other truck on the market today, how good is the transmission on the Frontier?

Amen to every word of that.

Yeah, the lack of an extended cab version does make a big difference. Need that and a 6' bed. I think the Nissan gets you both.

I've still only seen one Taco off the lot here & it was close enough to the dealer to be a test drive. Rangers & Colorados are everywhere. Great lookin trucks. Not sure if it's a delayed availability thing, but that seems to be what people are buying. Funny contrast - you can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a 1-3 gen Taco.

My father couldn't wait to get rid of his previous gen Frontier because of transmission issues. Got himself a sweet 2021 TRD Offroad. Thing is almost brand new even though he's owned it 3 years - 10k miles on it.

    Just my opinion

    1. Tacoma
    2. Frontier
    3. Ranger
    4. Colorado

If it was based on the looks:

    1. Tacoma
    2. Colorado
    3. Frontier
    4. Ranger

If it was based on price- wouldn't buy any of them! I'd get a used truck- probably a Tacoma

Chevy pisses me off. They make a lot of really good looking cars that have the stupidest problems.

One that comes to mind is having to remove the whole dash down to the firewall in order to change AC blend doors. Great way to make a $100 part cost $2500 to install it.

I once had to replace the passenger seat bottom to get the traction control light to turn off on an Impalla- TF does that have to do with traction???

Google ecotech 4 cylinder problems, or the whole lifter problem in the LS motors, or the white paint they couldn't figure out for how many decades??

But yeah! Look at those tires! Too bad they didn't give you the right gears for the 35's like Ford would have... Good looking truck though

And the Ford Ranger looks like 1996 or is it 1998?- no the 98 looks better than the 2024.

I don't have anything bad to say about the Frontier- I kinda like it, just not as much as a Tacoma

    Just my .02

Not for nothing, but the other day i was at a light and across from me was a GMC Canyon AT4 in that red color turning right next to a white SR5 '24 Tacoma.

The GMC was remarkably better looking than the Taco lol. You need to add GMC to your list somewhere.

And I really wouldn't bitch about GM messing up white paint in these parts... I'm not convinced Toyota has figured that out yet.

I would consider a Canyon over a Taco... There's just too much value over the Taco to not consider it..

I was literally looking at that truck since my taco is RWD I wanted to upgrade to 4WD. I can probably buy a canyon 4 to 6k cheaper than the next 4WD taco in my area and use that money to get an extended warranty.

The trail boss here is 38k and the z71 it's 42. While the cheapest trd off road I could find its 46k

A Toyota guy criticizing GM about problems with white paint? Surely you jest.

It was pretty easy and obvious for me.

Chevrolet and Ford have poor safety ratings against new gen Tacoma achieving top safety pick plus they only have the short beds.
