Ya high humidity, salt air, and maybe ran in salt water too , my reference was to dry humidity of 20-30 % all the time, not dry as in no rain, not beside the ocean.

Not sure how it is in Alberta but when I was up in Calgary and banff last month not only Tacomas but pretty much every truck I saw up there was literally rusted to shit with giant holes like Swiss cheese everywhere

I used crc heavy duty corrosion inhibitor on everything underneath that I could get to. 2 coats. Then after dry I used fluid film and a wand and shot it up into the frame parts that is boxed. Did it on a new truck a year ago and it’s still waxy to the touch. Will probably hit it all again this September.
I think the crc is similar to cosmoline. I’ve read that at least.

Cosmoline is more durable and has more staying power if applied to a clean surface. It's pretty much necessary on the outside surface of the LCAs. However, it doesn't creep, so it can be difficult to get full coverage in tight spaces. There is also no flexible wand made for the cans, and based on reviews on Amazon, the aftermarket ones just leak or clog. You really need to dip the frame in cosmoline to get full coverage the first time.

The other options that creep and have flexible wand applicators may wash off to some degree, but not completely. As others have mentioned, after a couple reapplications it stays around, especially in cavities not exposed to a direct spray of water. You also don't need a worry about the frame being clean to apply, the creep effect will just esconsce everything and sealout water and oxygen.

    You do you.

For the $150 annual price, I’d coat mine even if I lived in AZ (because I’m probably going to drive it someplace where they use salt). The cost of the protection is so minimal I don’t see the logic of arguing against it.

Where he lives isn’t necessarily where the truck will always be is my perspective.

Total B.S. "Calgary and banff" are in Alberta, and like I said vehicle rust is not a thing here. There are a lot of pickups here cause it's like Texas of Canada with the oil industry here. A lot have surface rust and damage of the body panels but that's just from the way they're used and abused not because they need rust protection underneath. Year round relative humidity of 20-30% doesn't need rust protection. Fact jack not your miss info.

I have had great long term results using Fluid Film on my 4runners and this year I will be trying out Woolwax on my Tacoma.

Rustproofing is not a one and done type deal either, it requires annual maintenance if you want to stay on top of it.

People don't realize the importance of spraying inside the body panels, as well as the frame!

I’d agree! The folks at my local Krown are super cool, and showed me the process. It’s nice knowing those inside panels are coated,,, especially since I intend to keep this truck for a long time. And if that changes? I’m sure documentation of this will help resale.

get or build an under carriage wash system, look the the common rust points and during the dry season properly prep and paint them.

painting over rust seals it and the moisture in and is the worst scenario, better to do nothing than that.

be sure to remover any drain plugs in the doors rockers or drill them

So my 11 year old Honda CRV looked sooo good, that when it got written off in an accident, I held out from the 1st quote from the insurance company and ended up getting much more money for it.

    NEVER accept the 1st quote!!!
