    Soooooo

instead of 5qt for like $23

you’re saying gotta get this one that’s probably no different
Because according to the link it’s BOGO half off $40 5qt 2nd one $20

meaning $30 is somehow numerically less than $23

    interesting

not really a deal in any way but OK

did i say that? or did you just stick your nose in here to make a snobby comment and not add any real value to the conversation?

all i said was i'm interest in the product because of its claims. I dont care about pricing if the product works.

    it's valvoline bruh
    what claims

    claims of cleaning?
If you changed your oil on time like you're supposed to, it would already be clean right now.

Lot bigger shit to worry about on these trucks than oil. It's not hard.

I'm writing a letter to my state senator.

They need to put forth a Federal bill, SB 242935, "Oil Thread Reduction Act", as follows:

    - No new oil threads shall be created on any publicly-available social media platform.

    - Anyone convicted of starting a new oil thread on such a platform shall be guilty of a class A felony, punishable by not less than $20,000 fine and/or 1 year in Federal custody.

    -------

Just change your oil every 3-5K miles, with the appropriate weight oil of your choice. Modern oils do not "wear out" at any reasonable service interval, at least not on stock/NA engines. The issue isn't "wear" on the oil, it's contamination w/ blowby & soot.

Used R&P in an older CRV that was burning 1 quart per 1100 miles. Was pretty consistent over a 3 year period. These engines have a problem with sticking piston rings.

It barely burns any oil now. (200ml in 1500 mi last check) I was skeptical, but it only cost about $10 more than the Kirkland, so figured I'd try. I'm a believer now.

From what I’ve read and seen it has a good additive pack. It may be marketing as others have said but I just tried it out my last oil change. I don’t have many miles on it so I can’t review it yet. Basically 29.98 for 5 qts is a good price for it so why not?

There are many videos on YouTube about it. FordBossMe has had it analyzed in one of his videos I believe.
It’s supposed to be 4 oil changes to produce a difference. Also the motor oil geek went to the lab and gives good info in this video.

Every single oil question has been asked and answered somewhere on these forums. Almost all responses have been bullshit from most who know nothing about oil but are giddy to share their ignorance, Fuck oil threads.

I use blinker fluid in everything. My blinkers, engine, tranny, front and rear diff. Etc. I saw a video on YouTube that showed how Blinker fluid is the best and I believe everything on YouTube.

I would like to know what chemistry they use to "clean" the engine and what chemistry did it take the place of to fill the bottle?

First of all, if you want to learn about oil, go to Bob is the Oil Guy and read.

In regards to this new product from Valvoline, the “oil heads” over at BITG forums have been using this on 2AR Toyotas (among others) that have been slugging oil at an alarming rate. The consensus there is it works at freeing up stuck oil rings and slowing oil consumption.

My take is if your not having an oil consumption issue, whatever you’re doing is fine and there’s no need to switch to this product. If you’re driving something that’s using oil, it can’t hurt to try it.

Edit: for the record, NAPA has this stuff for $7.99 a quart for the month of July.

There are many cleaning oils. There are many cleaning additives. This has been the case for a long time.
Running a more frequent OCI also cleans, or keeps clean.

People get dirt when they fail to adhere to proper OCI like they are supposed to.

If someone wants to actually clean in a way that is not normally done, and create a forum contribution
they can create/rig a DIY water injection setup specifically for cleaning, and post how they did it.

This will clean the piston tops in a way that oil never will.

Water is great at cleaning carbon from the tops of pistons but will do nothing for oil coking/carbon in the oil rings. This oil is designed specifically for the rings, not the piston tops.
I had a turbo car with methanol injection to help manage charge temperatures going into the cylinders. I got a bit aggressive tuning one day and cracked a ring land from detonation. When I pulled the head I was amazed how clean the tops of the pistons were……like almost shiny clean.

yeah. I thought about WMI but just a small amount of water for cleaning purposes. It’s just expensive for that.

knew a guy who made his own setup with a valve, hose, and water bottle connected to the intake. It worked. Just sounds sketchy. Wouldn’t want to hydrolock.

or be getting uneven water not spread the same amount to all cylinders.
