What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Did you buy parts for your switch panel on the center console or did you make it? If you bought it, what did you get? Got an '06 and there really aren't that many blanks in the cab

 

These brakes are insane!! Bled the brakes last night with the help of my wife.



That came out of my truck, apparently way overdue!

 

I looked at my truck today, made a big sigh and swallowed my supercharger envy.. there’s a refurbished magnusson/TRD unit for sale for $4k asking… I would go for it, but I’d have to delete the paid off mod for 60HP..

Do the StopTech mitigate the spongy feeling when braking?
Worth the money iyo?

 

It has improved the pedal feeling for sure. Has more bite with less pedal travel.

My son bought a 2013 long bed TRD sport crew cab and it was $23K. I don't know where you can find what you want for that price but the market is changing so keep an eye out for it. Good luck.

 

I would be interested in your parts list. Saw a video awhile back who did the same thing in a large 40mm ammo can. Nice work.

 

I watch the market frequently. For that money I would not rule out an SR5 because the Sport and Off Road are SR5's anyway. There is nothing about a Sport or Off Road that you cannot add yourself later. I suggest you broaden your search area. I see deals all the time but I am willing to buy a one way plane ticket for the right deal. What I have done, when I find what I believe is a great deal, is reach out to the seller and, if they appear honest, let them know you will send a reasonable non-refundable deposit only if they let you get an independent inspection at a nearby ASE certified shop of your choice. I bought 2 great vehicles in California and shipped them to me for around $1000 each over the years. The last one I was hoping to buy, a fairly priced FJ Cruiser in Florida, failed the ASE inspection due to bad brakes and a dent. The owner would not budge on the price. If they won't allow an inspection then better to pass on it because the owner knows what they will find. I would also be flexible on your price. If all you can afford is $16k then don't waste time looking at $18k trucks. People are not negotiating much more than $500 off asking prices in todays market. Another option is hiring a rollback for delivery. Quoted $500 to $600 from Florida to Virginia last year. The last 2 I bought were $14k each, bought within 30 days of each other, and both were within 40 miles of me. A 2012 SR5 access cab V6 with 140k true highway miles and a 2008 Off Road V6 access cab with 83k miles. Both rear wheel drive. If you don't have the time, or the money, to take a plane ride then look within 250 miles. I have driven out of state to buy our last 3 new vehicles and saved a lot of money in the process. I just paid for a one way rental car. Good luck and be patient. Don't overpay. There are deals out there. Just be diligent in your search.

 

Put on Powell's Tacomaworld Sticker so he can match his little big brother. Tires came in last week. When I ordered the wheels, (same night) Jegs said they'd be shipped on the 30th. Then the next day, I got the email that they wouldn't ship until 8/16. But Jegs was the only place I could find the right ones, so I'm waiting.

ome 885's / bilstein 5100s installed. Feels great, I understand the love for 'entry level' 5100s now completely. Assuming the coils will settle about a half inch which I'm fine with (24" hub to fender, 4cyl prerunner) Thanks to @HeadStrong Off-Road as usual for prompt and informative service

DK cam tab gussets welded in too, been chasing alignments goin out mere weeks after setting... hoping this get me closer to completion or all the way there.

Just about the whole front end is refreshed now w/ oem lca's, steering rack and outers, jba uca's...fingers crossed
