Others will be better at providing camp sites, but Charlie's Creek is probably the most popular. I'd say start at the church side and end with the river crossing. It can get rutted out, but they grade it occasionally. I haven't been in a while, so no clue on current condition. Just stay on the "road" (a.k.a. trail) and you're good. There's a big sign that says something like "no offroading" at the start. I saw a Sheriff deputy the last time I went and about crapped my pants. He just waved as I went on by though. I figured it was because I stayed on the trail and didn't venture off any of the side roads or other sections.

Most of the sites during camping weather are packed so plan to take a 1/2 day to get up there in time or else you will need to improvise and look for other camp sites

Lake Conasauga ( $5 camping spot with water and a community bath house)
Tray mountain (Enter off of indian grave gap other access points are closed) There are camp sites along the way up and on top of the mountain.
Jacks River Field ($5 camping spot with community toilet)
Sarah Creek (never been there but looks nice)

What are y'alls favorite dispersed camping areas in north GA? Going to go up there at the end of the month to go camping with some buddies from high school. I appreciate the help!

That sounds like a good plan for me. If we can’t find any dispersed spots we will see what’s available for pay. Appreciate the help!

Just ran up Charlie's Creek a couple days ago. It's not graded to the point a Prius could run it like I've seen in the past, but it's not in rough shape right now either. The dispersed sites on Charlie's creek remain closed with the FS placing rocks and berms at the entrances. The unmarked road that cuts north toward Charlie's Creek at the 1/2 way point has not seen any service in a while and is rutted with some deep mud holes. The crossing at Charlies Creek there is intact but steep, you'd need some serious approach and departure angles to get across. After that it's tank traps that I wouldn't attempt. The Tallulah River crossing has been regraded and large crush gravel put down.

Also saw notices that the campgrounds on Tallulah River Road are changing from first come first serve to reservation only. The change over seems to be a gradual roll out with 1/2 the sites in the first campground having changed over now. Seems like sometime in 2025 they'll be fully converted. Used to love running up there and hardly seeing anyone when I used to live near by. Now it's being loved to death.

Trying to get a few people together on the 10th. Meeting at Super Overland Outfitters in Gainesville between 9-11 and then riding up into the Blue Ridge WMA for a few hours.

Let me know if you want to join up

naw nothing crazy, the route I intend for us to do is Grassy Gap to FS333 and down Noontootla. So we will get some bumps on the path but generally have a nice drive through the woods

I would go but I’m moving on the 10th :annoyed:

If y’all ever head that way again, let me know. I’m really close by and look forward to getting my tires dirty.

I’ve read that Georgia Traverse Trail is pretty cool but I’m saving that for Labor Day weekend. If you’re trying to explore north and south then there’s the Georgia Adventure Trail but that’s much longer. Also, there are lots of good places in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, but I’ve only been to a few places there since I’ve moved here.

Wolf’s Creek in Blairsville has a good amount of dispersed spots and the further you go into the road the less campers since the road gets pretty steep. I’m sure 2WD will still be able to get through but it seems to be a good deterrent.

Word of warning - the Traverse and surrounding camping areas will be very crowded on Labor Day weekend.
