Can we talk car show etiquette for a second?

I hate being considered a Karen, but I might have had a small Karen moment today. Went to a local Cars and Coffee and decided to be obnoxious and park in the "entrant" side if you want to call it that. I figure if the world gets one less 1969 Camaro at a car show the world doesn't end (no disrespect to 1969 Camaro owners). Behind me was a VW Rabbit Pickup with a really cool 1.8T swap. The owner walks over with this sons and they start playing with Hot Wheels in the bed of his truck. Fine, no issue. The owner drops the tail gate and the kids start pushing the cars off the tailgate. Again, not necessarily an issue, but I'm not a huge fan, but they then start launching them off the tailgate directly at my truck. I'm just watching and the initial salvo doesn't hit my truck, but as I do the next lap of the show I notice some of the cars beside my rear tire, under my truck etc. I finally get in and just roll the truck a few inches forward and glare at the owner. He tells his kids to stop launching them off the tailgate and just drop them as if one hits my truck he takes them away. No comment towards me, just the kids.

I ended up lasting another 10 minutes before I decided to leave. I know "it's a truck, it should have scratches, blah blah" but that's not how I operate. I don't need a couple of kids dinging my truck. Now, I'm a parent of young kids. I couldn't imagine being okay with them doing that, especially at a car show. I mean, doing it in a parking lot of normal cars is a bad idea, but doing it at a car show is unreal. My kids would get one push of the car before I'd have the tailgate up at a minimum, maybe even find them a secluded area where they could play and I could keep an eye on them. I couldn't imagine not being super apologetic as a parent in this situation either if my kids were doing something "bad".

Maybe I'm the anomaly, I dunno.

 

Plus side at least he told them to cut the crap, but definitely should have acknowledged you in some way as well.

Not a Karen..and don't give me that "trucks have scratches" stuff because it's still your property. I had a local business tell me that once like "it's a truck, what do you expect"? My reply was for it not to be damaged by his employee and I'll send him the estimate for the repairs..which ended up in court.

If I was a parent, first time I saw those cars go anywhere near someone else's (and yes I'd be watching them) that's the end of it. The fact that you are a parent as well and would never tolerate that from your own is further proof of the NAK statement I made.

I put a dent in my bedside wheeling and I'd be real bothered if they dinged my tailgate over that, I'd have no issue telling him as much lol

 

What is wrong with people. Pretty basic to teach them to respect others and their things

This is a root problem...and as that tree grows there is less and less respect for other peoples property...and then one day your tearing down things and spray painting them...

This is the way people are now a days! Nobody cares about anybody but themselves! Plus nobody cares what anybody else thinks. No consideration for anyone. All for one and one for one.

That kind of hypocrisy is the worst part of the overall issue.

Friend of mine works very early mornings and told me at one particular stop light he let the same lady in a Range Rover out 3 times one week. Not once a wave or anything of the sort.

From then on he vowed to not let her out again, and the next week when the option was there he just slid up and she had to wait till the light turned. She actually yelled out the window at him telling him how rude he was.

 

My partners good friend is a silversmith and I inquired about a reliquary ring for it, purely so my kid will find something bizarre when I'm in the dirt. She said she has to think about it and I told her no sweat, "Hell no dude" is a perfectly acceptable answer.
