Im so sorry to hear all this Eric! Thank God they were awake and are safe! This is a nightmare we all hope to never experience, but sadly happens all too often. But this is what insurance is for, I pray they have a great policy. Property can be replaced… loved ones can not.

 

So here’s a tech question I don’t believe has been answered on any threads yet…

I know in previous years, people have performed a Tundra to Tacoma brake upgrade… The newest generation Tundra has adapted the same 6 lug bolt pattern as the Tacoma and T4R. That said, can we swap the larger rotors and calipers from the new Tundra directly to the Tacoma? Maybe even swap to the rear disc setup as well??

Looking to get a bigger brake upgrade.

If you’re still thinking about driving in MD and the possibility of being pulled over, I think I’ve figured out the solution…

TURBO kit… They’ll never catch ya! Especially around tracks and fields. Or at the least, we could swap a CBR1000rr motor in it.

Can you swap late gen brakes? I don't know. Stoptech has a front disk upgrade for 2nd gens. See pictures below. Stoptech also has a rear disk brake mod for second gen Tacomas.

Thanks. Some stuff not on the top floor and a few things from up there that were towards the front of the house.

 

It would be interesting to compare part numbers to see if the newest Tundys use the same brakes parts as the past generation. ( scan the listings at Rock Auto ?) I used the 1st gen Tundy ( V8 truck) for the 'big brake' swap on my 2nd gen T4R- all I really got out of it was thicker rotors and physically larger calipers that held a bigger ( longer) brake pad. If I had to do it over, I would have used 5th gen T4R rotor/calipers/pads/ MC. The rotors on those rigs are huge! I would venture to say that if nothing else, the 5th gen T4R front brake package would be an upgrade to the 3rd gen Tacos.

 

I would assume they are different part numbers beings they are going from 5 lug to 6 lug… more less concerned with if the calipers would bolt up or if the caliper bolts are going to be further spaced apart?

Guess the easiest way to answer the question would be to just go order a set of Tundra 13.9” rotors and calipers and see. If not, simply return them. Gotta be better than the Tacoma’s 12.6” discs.

 

Now I just have to have it inspected and I'll be 100% street legal. I used 3 wire lights instead of the 2 wire lights that came in the kit. So now i have front running lights & side marker lights along with turn signals & hazards. There wasn't any side lighting or reflectors for side visibility.
