Hate to see a Fox Chassis vehicle bite the dust like that, hopefully the occupants were ok.

 

We’ve been friends since January 2009, and aside from the fact that we’ve had to declare an armistice on talking about a certain thing that can’t be discussed out in the open on TW, our relationship is fine. He’s just your typical autistic guy…

 

It turns out that a SawzAll can cut through the outer casing of a transmission quite effectively, but trying to get the thing torn apart was more trouble than it was worth…

 

This happened after we moved into the new house, but before COVID; I believe it was about 2017 or 2018. I do not consider this a road rage incident on my part. My best friend Mike, who at that time did not have a driver’s license, was in the front seat of my Taco. We were driving back to my house to get something before going to a movie. I was on this section of Street Road where it goes from two lanes to one, and the right lane becomes a turning lane.

I was in the left/straight lane, and out of nowhere this black late model Ford Taurus blows past me in the right/turn lane. The Taurus then cuts me off at the last possible moment and I had to slam on the brakes; I laid on the horn and the driver of the Taurus came to a complete stop and flashed police-style LEDs in his taillights.

I knew it wasn’t a cop because cops in Warrington didn’t drive the “Police Interceptor” Tauruses, and this car had a regular PA plate instead of a municipal one.

I turned on my brights and laid on the horn. He realized that was I was not going to tolerate a person impersonating an officer in order to pull dangerous and illegal moves. There was nobody coming in the opposite direction, so for good measure I kept my brights on until I reached the turn for my neighborhood.

It just occurred to me that I forgot to tag @6 gearT444E, @ABA180, @ColoradoTJ, and @shakerhood in the above post? Have any of you guys had dealings with asshole motorists driving what looked suspiciously like police vehicles but clearly weren’t?

In the above post, the red circle the first pic shows where the guy in the Taurus cut me off. In the second pic, the red line shows path of travel for my truck, and the blue line represents the Taurus…

 

Maybe regular people purchased retired police cars

 

That could be but at least here the police remove all the blue lights and such, though I have seen many Crown Vics with the driver's side spotlight still

 

For some reason, I think the prick in the Taurus was a volunteer firefighter. They are allowed to have flashing lights on their personal vehicles, but there are only allowed to use them when responding to calls.

 

I see ex-police Chargers owned by civilians that have the A-pillar spotlights. Those aren’t illegal to have, and personally I think that having one could be quite handy!

 

Asshole motorist, Yes.
Ones that looked like cops, No.
