Yikes! Did I ever get behind after missing a few days while camping! Had to just skip ahead. Spent a few at 8,800 ft. I was concerned I couldn’t sleep, but no problem. Full moon made fishing tough. So we settled for beef fillets and garden salad.

The Snowy Range in Wyoming was cool, but dry. There was a crew from the Rocky Mountain Conservation Corp working on the campground. Nine hardworking college age kids.

Lots of hummingbirds and wild flowers. Just lovely!

Hoping today finds everyone doing well?
I’m going hiking to Rainbow Lakes with a young fellow (67). Should be cool and nice.
Have a great day and don’t waste a minute…not that many left! LOL!

Bought another lantern off of evil bay two weeks ago tomorrow, shipped via FedEx, seller shipped their cheapest way, snail pace, may get it Monday or Tuesday. Shipped from Pennsylvania, went thru Arkansas, Kansas, then shot down to New Mexico? Finally on the Sacramento, south to Stockton. Seller set up for final delivery by USPS Smart Post. Been wanting to work on something. Two weeks? I can get stuff from S Korea or China faster.

Are you in a hurry? When I retired I stopped being in a hurry. Only the bare essentials being unavailable are worth increasing my stress.

They are taking over my yard!! I want to dig them up and put them in one spot. I want the berries, but not vines all over the yard.

    Morning all:

Going over the coal stove, winters coming!
When I took the pipe off this is what I ended up with for the one elbow after it fell on the ground, another reminder why I need to clean and check it yearly. Last year it still looked OK, and it's been on for quite a while, can't complain.

A little something every chance we get.
:rain: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Our last chance for rain found us this morning, and a very nice 0.75" after breakfast thank you! Got a nice omelet plate from Mr. Taco, huevos ranchero for the wife, and slept off the food coma under the metal roof of the sunroom. Which means I'm only on my second cup of coffee. Back to hot and ridiculously humid the rest of the week.

All too soon I'm afraid, Carl.
Fireweed down here is just past 1/2 gone ... 'bout 2 hrs north it was 2/3 gone. It's coming for sure.

My wood shed has been mostly filled for two months, adding a little here and there to top it off. Also cut a little more firewood for next Spring, not that I needed any wood, just thought that I needed more lower btu wood, as I have quite a bit of higher btu wood like Doug Fir and Oak.

We just had a Rufus hummingbird visit our feeders. They are SO rare around here. We've only had three or four sightings the entire summer, starting a couple or three weeks ago. It's hard to tell if it's the same bird, but I tend to think it is. Its got a big, brilliant throat patch and that usually varies a lot between birds. Seems like there are a few more birds total after a very limited number compared to most years. I suppose the first babies are now part of the tribe.

It doesn’t make any easier to familiarize to new cars nowadays since each model has its unique appealing style, not sure if people still allow their love ones borrow their new ride.

A farmer that I worked with had wild blackberries or raspberries growing along the edge of his fields. They were huge and delicious, way better than the ones that you can buy in a store.
I really like asparagus and never buy it in the store, the wild asparagus we have in the area is also way better than the store bought, same for the wild huckleberries and blueberries that are pretty abundant in our area.
mit88 needs to taste the good stuff, that might change his mind! :anonymous:

    Sue!
Looks like fresh off the bush is winning!

Before I took the pipe off, I noticed that it was rusted through at one of the joints and needed to replace it, then I dropped it and saw how bad it really was when it completely broke apart, last year it looked to be OK when I cleaned the stove.
At least it's something that's an easy fix.
You ever figure out your vent, didn't see where you decided on a solution.

We would go to Capitol Reef national Park for Memorial Day every year back in the '70s, and we'd pick fresh asparagus in the old pioneer orchard and eat most of it raw before getting it back to the campsite. So good. The campground probably had thirty spots and there might be 3/5 occupied. Now they've taken out all the old orchard and expanded the campground where it was, and it's so busy you have to make a reservation a year or more in advance. But 90 percent of people never get more than five miles outside the campground so there's lots of remote camping and hiking if you want to get away from it all.

One of my trips to Montana, I did an o/n backpack trip with a stovie friend into the Cabinet Mountains, late, peak year for Huckleberries, was eating the heck out of them before and after setting up camp. Was using my cup to chug berries as my hand wasn't up to the task of stuffing my mouth. Finally had enough, then right after dinner, started up again. So good.
