So I tried plasti dipping my buddies 1st gen badges and ended up having a really hard time with the badges on the tailgate and the little sr5 ones on the side ... The paint kept wanting to peel off the letters as I was trying to remove the excess paint around the letters .. Anyone else run into this problem and possibly have a solution ?

So since plasti dip obviously leaves a nice layer of protection what if you then spray paint it to be the color you are looking for? Would you still be able to peel it ?

So being as today was a nice warm, sunny, not breezy day, i decided to do my emblems in the RED plasti-dip. I noticed as the day got warmer, i didnt have to let each coat dry as long, about 15 minutes per coat... basically until they werent reflective and were half dry.

I did all my emblems, as shown... 3 coats...

My biggest issue is inbetween the letters...i dont know how im going to get rid of it...any suggestions?

looks orange :( but came out nice though imo. when you were trying to take out the inner paint on the lettering, did you poke/pick at paint or what have you with the toothpick? I have some bbq skewers I don't need that I can use but not sure the technique.

in person it looks red... pics dont do it justice..

i slid the toothpick along the inner edges... and pulled it up as best i could... be careful with your angles... it can cause the toothpick to pick up some of the compound, i need to repaint the inside of one letter...

i had no issues, even after a couple hours of drying. i suggest after the final coat, wait 30-45 minutes then peel it off, using toothpicks to get between the letters.
