Update, truck is starting to run hot, and blowing coolant out of my overflow. I think there’s some steam trapped in there I’ll try and get out. Also might be a little more warm than normal because I have working AC now, and it’s 110 outside still.

Another update, secondary fan isn’t turning on. It has power at the connector, but the fan itself is toast.

the Tacoma I swear notices when it’s close to running and shits the bed just to prove a point

    Heck yeah! :muscleflexing:

Wonder how that fan died so quickly? You ohm'd it out and compared it to the good fan too? Swapping plugs, whatever. Just weird because I don't remember you having them for that long.

I actually didn’t ohm it out or swap plugs. I mean both plugs have 12v and ground at it so it really can’t be anything other than a dead fan.

The fans came with the Ron Davis radiator, so maybe 8 months? I dm’d them on instagram and they got back to me and told me to get the p/n off the back of the fan and they’ll set one out for me tomorrow AM.

I don’t understand… Holley output for the #2 fan is activated, I have 12v and ground on the fan connector. When I shut the Holley output off, it turns off, when I turn it on, it’s on.

    But….

when I connect the fan, the fan doesn’t turn on.

    But….

When I hook the fan up to my booster pack, the fan turns on.

    im lost.

What is the voltage on the wires with the fan connected and turned on?

Measure the voltage at the connector with it connected to the fan and turned on and not running.

Voltage with fan disconnected but power on is 12v

voltage with fan connected but power on is 0v

resistance across the fan wires is 0.4ohms

This is a perfect example of why we want the circuits to be loaded when checking powers and grounds with a meter, you have a circuit that can supply voltage but can't supply any current.

Now to see where the voltage drop is, do the same test (fan connected and turned on) with one meter lead to fan negative and the other to a known good ground. Measure that voltage, then go from fan positive to a known good power and measure the voltage.

Welp. There’s the answer. Ground had continuity, but like you were saying not enough to produce any current. Trying to find my other pins for this busman box so I don’t have to clean this pin lol

Fuse was still conducting too. Wasn’t blown…

    Mmm crunchy.
That wire looks awfully small for a 30A fuse though.
How many amps do those fans pull?

It’s 14gauge wire, same size that the spal’s come with. I don’t actually know the current draw off the top of my head.

And we’re back up and running. Hopefully for
More than 20 mins this time. Taking the truck to work tomorrow, then center console place after words. I need a break from thinking about this truck. I noticed my thermostat housing seal is kinda toast, it started dribbling a little bit of coolant after 215 degrees yesterday. I think the higher temps and pressure started squeezing coolant out of where it normally wouldn’t. Probably need to put a new one in, which requires making a mess of coolant everywhere and rebleeding. Guess I’ll tackle that if I have to later down the line.

    Glad you like them!!!

Our shirt and hoodie quality is honestly really good. We tried a few before finding one we liked. And they fit a little longer than most shirts, which I much prefer. Our hoodies are super comfy

I’ll have to remember that for a few months from now when it’s not 115 outside. I feel like my brain is cooked from working on the truck outside these past 2 weeks.

Well the truck didnt strand me today. Made it to work early even. Stayed right at 180 basically the whole time. I got out of the truck and shit myself because there was a drip line the whole path my truck was driving and a massive puddle! It was just my evaporator drain that I haven't seen work in almost 2 years. Kinda funny.

So I wanted a really simple intake solution for the truck, basically just an elbow turn down for my air intake. Problem is, no one makes a tight radius aluminum elbow with a 1/8 NPT bung for my MAT sensor. I found this company in the UK, that sells 4" Cobrahead style silicone couplers! Ive used these before, on my supercharged lexus rc350 that I used to own. Really cool tight radius bend with no air restriction:
    wot-motorsport-do88-do88-cobra-head-intake-hose-102mm-4-inch-1627549814SCOB102-image5.jpg
To pair to this, I ordered this mishimoto sensor bung for silicone intakes:
    mmft-nzl-18_1_6kx1ipik6vfsatxf.jpg.jpg mmft-nzl-18_5_rn8acpxjmgnhnybo.jpg.jpg

And lastly picked up a stainless steel joiner for between the cobra head and the filter. Should pair pretty nicely. I would've liked to have one of those sweet particle filters like @tacotunner06 has where its filters using centrifugal air flow, but I do not have enough room in my engine bay. Not even close.

Funny you say that about the temps. I was all excited to work on my truck this weekend because it only was going to be in the low 90’s. Wasn’t much work but did a toe alignment and fixed a pinion leak. Found a cracked shim on the pinion solid spacer so took care of that also while I was there.
