Changed grill. Made a remarkable difference in appearance of front end.

Do under the headliner, between doing the back, the two front doors and the headliner, I significantly reduced the sound noise in the cab. Next is the entire floor, and finally the two rear suicides, but I'm extremely happy with the back wall, front doors and headliner done.

Lots of threads on here that go into more detail, but the gist is each layer stops sound in a different way. The first layer (butyl and foil) keeps the metal panel from resonating like an instrument, the second layer (closed cell foam) absorbs sound and decouples the mlv from the panel, and lastly the third layer (mass loaded vinyl) physically blocks sound from passing through. The consensus at least on this forum is this three layer combo is the most effective way to reduce noise, but plenty of people are happy with only doing one or two layers. Some companies even offer sound deadening rolls that are already a combination of these layers (eg Siless hybrid 3in1).

Love the look of this grill, first time seeing it. Can you link to where you got it?

Made a replacement key and remote through Tom's Keys as the truck only came with one when I bought it used three years ago. Programming was easy and my local locksmith only charged me $10 to cut the key. Otherwise it cost me $231 including the $90 programmer deposit (you get it back when you return the programmer module).

They look and feel entirely OEM. Totally worth it for anyone looking to get a new key! https://tomskey.com/collections/toyota-tacoma-2011-2015

Thanks, the doors are definitely next on my list. What did you do for the headliner? I’ve read the three layers is too thick to fit. I’m considering something like this to block the heat when the sun beats on it:

I did rubber butyl and closed cell, no mass loading. The butyl knocks out the vibes, closed cell insulates, but really the first time you roll through rain and it no longer sounds like little pellets bouncing off the thinnest metal imaginable, you'll be thankful. It's easier to cool and faster to heat, though that's negligible given the size of my cab. But I do find that using the windshield shade, even in direct sun, it's not nearly as smoldering hot as it used to be prior to doing the headliner.

Just do a search for Tacoma Pro Grill 2.0. I got mine from Tacovinyl.com but I think others carry it also.

Not sure if I like it but it’s done. Did the door handles and rain guards. Btw the rain guards screw up the tint, wish I new that sooner.

    Keeping it running
Replaced clutch line with braided stainless steel line. Then found out it’s also leaking at the tube that connects at the firewall. Ordered the part and will be replacing this hopefully before the end of the week. Hoping to have my truck back before I am traveling on the road for work for the first two weeks of August. Until then I will have to rely on the project Subaru Baja to be my daily. The Baja is going to need a head gasket job… lots of me figuring shit out along the way.

    minor tweaks
Roll the window down all the way, grab the rear part of the molding and pull upward. On the 2nd gen,at least least the early one, there's no clips. Super simple to do. I had to use needle nose pliers to grab it.

Have you had them before? How do they do in the snow and rain if you have?
