T1 at Laguna is a full throttle, completely blind crest that you come over and then drop down towards T2 (Andretti hairpin). When I could actually get a clean lap, I was approaching it at 135-140, but I couldn't bring myself to keep it pinned.

I wanted to go up for the races too, but I wasn't trying to make that drive again so soon after. Next year, I may consider camping at the track for the races, going somewhere like Big Sur for a few days after, then coming back for the track day.

You've really got to make it a point to get to Laguna! It's expensive, but IMO, the value is there for Aprilia's program. Time to start preparing for Buttonwillow!

My first visit and my primary goal meeting Wendy Crockett. I got to spend close to 30 minutes chatting with her and her husband before her 10 am seminar. The few Honda CB400F super sports I saw I almost fell over at the asking prices. Never even made it to the motocross track. Will go back again for sure.

Ya I've seen aot in our local page as well it gets kinda off putting anymore.... Don't wanna get out of street riding but if I feel it's to unsafe then I will and stick to dirt.

    Haha thankfully I haven't!

Well folks she is gone. I sold everything with the bike at 4k it was a high price yes but it came with legit everything I had for the bike the guy didn't haggle road it for a few mins and said ight you can keep the cash I want it.

I do plan to look for a Enduro bike eventually but I won't rush to anything just yet since the gf can't get anything till next year and my buddies scrambler is well not doing well... So only one buddy with a dirtbike so gonna hold off until I find one hell of a deal.

Haha yeah don't blame ya, it's a trek. A trip out of the races, big sur, and back, would be an awesome time.

I know I really do it's just so hard to stomach that $600 fee lol. I'm about 90% sure I'll be signing up for that buttonwillow event on Oct 21 though.

Yup it's definitely hard to keep seeing them. Wouldn't blame you if you focused on dirt only either...drivers suck lol.

And congrats on the sale! Sad day but more cash monies to spend on the current bike or save for the next!

On my stock tires I still can't keep it pinned in 6th on my RC390 around turn 1. I'm hoping with the Pirellis I will be able to get there.

Turn 9? I take that WOT but on my bike I'm at WOT almost everywhere.

I am trying to work up to keeping the bike pinned in 6th gear around turn 8 as well. If I can do that + turn 1 I think I'd save at least 2 seconds.

Yup..m we are holding it out still since we both love the bolt but ya if it happens with a super close one then we will get rid of it.

Thanks! Ya ATM it's just gonna sit in savings for a bit lol.

went to my buddies place to hangout and see if his bar risers would work on my bike and sadly they dont but if i get the ones for my bike they should help me with how the bars feel to far away so gonna look into that soon. but while hanging out with him i was telling him something both of us want to do in the fall which is our first moto trip. we wanna get saddle bags and a comfy seat so we can cruise up to omaha nebrasaka to go to the zoo and hang out there for a weekend then come home. as we were talking about this he goes oh! i have some saddle bags you can have for cheap that my dad sent me i have no use for them.

now these bags are universal so they fit alright but they look decent and are in great shape. ill need to order a bracket from yamaha that supports themy and keeps them off the bike and maybe a turn signal relocation bracket but overall for 90 bucks i cant complain ya know?

Yeah 9, or maybe after 9, I can't remember where the crest is, it's been a long time since I was there. Before the expansion though. I was on a cbr1000rr and that track takes balls on a big bike

I still ride 3 mile, I've done 5 mile once and it's very confusing to me. Even my bike gets loose and wobby over the crest of 9, on a liter bike I'd be shitting myself at WOT over that crest.

I think my 390 is slower than any of the other contemporary small bikes. Ninja 400s and even R3s pull on me on the straights. My friend was hitting a little over 100 mph on the straight on his R3 while I could only get to about 94 mph on my RC. I know my bike is geared a lot shorter than his, though, since he's doing over 100 in 5th gear and I'm already in 6th at 94.

It looks super confusing! There's a track in Oregon, ORP. It's got 16 corners but it can be ran in either direction. Talk about confusing!

that must be a hell of a straight, I have yet to break 100 on my R3 on any of the tracks I've been too lol. after about 85-90 its such a slow crawl up, and usually the next turn is already approaching lol. I think I might have done it at Chuckwalla, but only very briefly.

lol not yet but I was thinking for a future submission or as the next challenge if you could satisfy the current.

i hear ya, take a look at mesh jackets. there's some good protective ones, and they're very well ventilated. I'm actually looking at getting one soon, as my current summer jacket is fully textile. has a couple vents that do great when moving, but it gets hot real quick in traffic/at lights.

Haha true true don't think I'd be able to go back there thou!

So that icon jacket is a mesh jacket but even then it was awful! It was super bulky and not comfortable to wear tbh... Then it started well being an icon product and falling apart lol.

I've always got right down on the ground and sighted the lower chain run while spinning the rear wheel.
Between the centering of the sprocket teeth in the chain gaps, and visualizing any bow in the chain run, a pretty useful alignment can be had that way.

But it does require a center stand of some sort to get the rear wheel up, and getting down low enough. That gets more difficult every year. Not an issue with the single side swing arm on the VFR.

Showed my young nephew how to do a basic petcock rebuild today. He described the problem symptoms of dribbling fuel in the OFF position as "non-binary".

"The dang thing can't decide whether it's ON or OFF"

Which is actually a very accurate way to describe it but I still laughed.

He also learned the age old lesson of check you work surface before you start blasting air through a part. Followed by God damn everything blends in on the workshop floor.

Also here's a pic from our luxurious pit setup from this weekend's track days. Enclosed bug tent with a projector screen.
