Yep. Lots of respect for the wild land fire crews. Tough job and certainly not for everyone.
many years ago there were some bad fires in Grand Teton Park. My ex and I were visiting and were stopped at one of the roadside pullouts to check out the fire burning on the other side of Jackson Lake. Bunch of other people there too.
Noticed a school bus drove by, caught a glimpse of a bunch of dirty yellow nomex shirts on the folks inside. FF crew heading back to base camp at the end of the day. Looked down the road and saw a whole line of buses coming. So I stood by the road and started clapping and cheering as they all drove by. Lots of folks joined me. Except my ex. He kept telling me to stop and that I was embarrassing myself. whatever.

Good morning everyone. I'm playing hookie today, I didn't get much sleep and didn't feel like being a Monday zombie so I made the call and went back to sleep until 10am.

I got the engine to fire up last night but there's a disheartening " clack clack clack" noise that I need to investigate. I heard this engine run before I bought it, so I'm not so worried about a spun bearing/ rod knock or anything like that. Maybe a lifter has collapsed/ hasn't pumped up yet, maybe the pressure plate is hitting the inspection cover because I banged that up pretty badly and did an attempt to straighten it out. I'm really hoping its something like that.

I'm hoping for the best possible outcome for you!

Drain that !! and flush it with peroxide!!

Every year seems to be a bad year anymore…
Did you see the fire in Jasper Park in Canada took out half the town the other night? Feel so bad for the folks losing their homes and businesses.

Good Monday afternoon to all. Hope everyone is safe and having a good day so far. We had a hell of a hard rain here yesterday for about 30 minutes.

I got bit by a brown recluse 19 years ago. Looked like that on day 2.
We had about 2 hours yesterday and another hour of gully washer this morning. Looks like there could be more. Just over 1-1/2" so far. We need it. 4" short for the summer.

    Afternoon all :hattip:

Tough day here. Mind is racing. Trying to distract myself by watching the Olympics for a bit. Planning on going to the Cape for some needed R&R. I’m not really looking to go right now. This time, it’s family vacation so I have to go whether I like it or not. My sister is supposed to come up, too. She needs a change of scenery for a while.

I’ve been working on the cigar box guitar kit. I have the box cut to fit and stained the neck. Need to varnish the neck and put it together.

I had a first over the weekend at the casino. Royal Flush with a Joker on a video poker machine at the bar.

Somehow, I expected more than 200 credits on my 2@ $.25 bet for a royal  Did NOT order a round for the bar, didn't even order myself a Scooby Snack.

Random suggestion but have you ever built Legos? Whenever I’ve had a super stressful day at work and can’t get my brain to kick out of overdrive at the end of the day I build Legos. Not stressful at all but requires enough concentration that my brain has something besides the ten million details of work stuff that I can’t do anything about to focus on.
I know your situation is a different kind of stress but maybe building would have the same effect?
