rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
At 72, I am also too old for that. It was a "a once in a lifetime experience" when the top went over and hung on a nearby tree. I was looking at the butt, thinking "if that thing kicks back, it's gonna tear me right out of this climbing belt, and Oh! Hell!.
But the top fell free, and I did not die.

But I don't need to do that again. I've got a couple of 100 foot hemlocks that are going hollow at the ground. They need to come down, and they would hit the house, power lines, or something else if tried to drop from the ground. I've hired a tree service. ;-)

Unfortunately no, you can't have everything. :pout:

The LTD was the top of the range full size Ford, already an expensive car.
Air conditioning was a $356 option ($3448 today), it doesn't sound like that much (today) until you consider the base price was $3277 ($31747 today), the options pushed this car close to $3700 ($35845 today) so AC would push it over 10% higher still.

The lowest full 4 door size model, the Custom, would be about $2700 ($26157 today) with the 352 engine & automatic transmission.

It does have Fords 2 year only "Silent Flow" ventilation system, exclusive to the 4 door LTD and Thunderbird (they used it longer).

There is a vent behind the rear window ducted to a vent in the rear parcel shelf with vacuum operated damper to open and close it. It uses the natural low pressure generated by the motion of the car to vacuum air out to be replaced by the front kick panel vents.

Saved from the clutches of the prize warehouse!

@VTCAL , the Mt Washington visitors center in Pinkham Notch has a display on the weather in the area. There’s something like three major jet streams that converge at times to create “the worlds worst weather”.

I’m about 10 -20 mile from the peak but about 5,300 feet lower but those streams do affect the local area and we get all sorts of crap our way.

Unrelated, @Fargo Taco , if you’re a huge Foo fan, check them out on Car Pool Karaoke available from YT. One of the funniest ones out there

Good morning everyone, I hope you have at least a tolerable Tuesday :hattip:

    Severe storm washout update.
    • Washout #1 still untouched, uncertain as to its status ie if it’s been evaluated, whether a bridge or another culvert’s going in. Word has it a beaver dam upstream from the road let go during the storm which contributed to the deluge.
    • Washout number 2 has a temporary bridge going in. I couldn’t get too close because they were actively working on it but had a conversation with one of the crew there Saturday. He said the plan was to get traffic going over the bridge by 8/7. I asked about the permanent fix, “yeah that’ll probably be 2-3 years down the road.”IMG_7511.jpg
    • If you zoom in on the pic, you can see someone’s driveway behind the intersection sign to the right that was part of the washout  Those people haven’t been able to use their driveway since the storm and the town had to cut them a new temporary driveway. There’s a better pic of it in the last pic of the quoted post. Wild stuff.
I hope for both these sites, the state puts in bridges rather than culverts. Both sites had year round running streams and not just seasonal run off. The weather’s too unpredictable.

I'm currently 5 hours north of my usual location visiting a niece and nephew. They are the ones with a 2 year old and 10 month old twins. I was supposed to be removing their front porch (which is a deck), but the permit hasn't come through yet so I think I'm shoveling dirt and leveling a part of the backyard for now. :pout::rofl:
