just a couple of things tbh
Also I forgot to send pics of my buddies 71 cl450 scrambler that is well in a bad shape...

As you can see the cylinder wall is pretty messed up and the piston has chunks of aluminum for some reason stuck on like it was ran and then it all melted onto the piston.. my buddy listed it but is also looking at maybe getting the engine bored out. But isn't sure yet since it could cost a lot of money..

At this point he is done with the bike and just wants it gone and most likely will crush it. He has had so many issues and wasted so much money on it and is just done. It's sad when something someone was so excited about dies like that but it does happen

Are you still doing the occasional track day? I figure when I get the S1KXR a track will be the only place I'll be able to ever go into the useful band of 6th gear (and probably 4th and 5th lol) and wouldn't mind trying a track day or two. There's basically zero tracks on the east side though that aren't motocross, as far as I can tell.

Nope, no more for me, for now at least. Don't have the gear anymore. But I will say it is tempting to take my Ducati to just have fun and fuck around

6th gear? Haha. Anything above 4th is pointless on that bike. There are no tracks over there. I used to have dreams of someone putting one in Ellensburg, it'd be a perfect spot. Go to The Ridge, make a weekend of it

Take it slow, enjoy the ride, ride as if you are invisible and you will be good. Cant live your life in a bubble but also cant be oblivious like most would be driving their car (not saying thats how you ride).

So my one thing of advice. ONLY RIDE the "normal commute" to work if you are fully awake fully rested and aware. The "normal commute" being so routine lets the human brain go into lala land on the regular, OK(ish) in a 4 wheeled vehicle but not so on a 2 wheeled vehicle. I have a pretty strict rule of not continuously commuting on a moto to work (my work is under 15mi away) unless I am full on ready to charge for the day and fully alert. The "gas savings" isnt really a thing when you factor in tires and maintenance on a moto. Not saying DONT commute, cus oh my the days I do ride to work start off and end amazing, but just be aware of the "routine".

OOOOK now thats BAD FREAKING ASS!

Man.... I think anyone whos ever watched anything motorsports would love to hit the corkscrew. Its a bucket list thing for sure.

Its sad, but its the right move, if you didnt use it and have found something else that suites your needs better win win. Trust me I get you, the sentimental thing I had with my Grom and its build was definitely there, but wore off quickly when I didnt have to stare at an unused thing in the garage taking up space costing me money to just sit.

Gdamn dude you are enjoying the hell out of 2 wheeled life! What an epic time!

Can you ask your buddy what tires those are on the scrambler? (those would look good on my xt225 when needed)

From what I've read you can triple digit first gear... sooo yeah.. I doubt 4th/5th/6th will see much use.

Not gonna lie, hadn't heard of the ridge but it looks nice. Also looks like CA superbike school comes there regularly, maybe next summer I try to make it out for a day of that.

A friend sent me a link to a Kendon trailer about 30 minutes after it was posted at 7:30 PM today. The seller was only 20 minutes away, so I jumped in the Forester and got the trailer an hour later.

    upload_2024-7-29_21-58-44.png

It's a 2003 Kendon dual rail. LED lighting, permanent trailer reg + a title (which CA usually doesn't issue titles for trailers unless you request one), and came with a ball hitch jack to roll it around, plus a spare tire. I got it for $1200 which is a steal since these usually go for double. Seller said his phone was blowing up, which is why I decided to get it tonight.

Main issue is it's so heavy. My friend's Kendon doesn't have the box (which I did want), front shield or diamond plating and it's so light and easy to move around and fold up. This thing is crazy heavy. I had to basically clean and jerk it up to the standing position, and in doing so I somehow shattered one of the small white rolling wheels. I will be replacing the casters and getting rid of the front shield to get rid of some weight.

just a couple of things tbh
i always ride like that im very defensive when it comes to driving and riding. its just people... i will see them and look at them like ya i know what you are going to do... and will react the way i need to and then they still about hit me like wtf? ive had one where i slowed down a bit since the turn is in a blind spot. i saw the driver it looked like he saw me but i figured he didnt so i slowed a bit and he started to pull out i honked my horn (still before the turn out into the road but can be easily seen at this point) and the dude froze for a second in the road way! looked right at me and decided he was still going to go but slowly creep out into the road way blocking my path.... so i went into the oncoming lane since no cars were over there.... im always watching and watch a lot more on the bike with the gf on the back (my head gets tired after multiple hours and days of riding with it all sometimes lol) but we have been riding more and more and we have had a lot more close calls then id like personally. we both dont want to get rid of the bolt but we both agree if we both have one where it scares us enough we will get rid of it and go to dirt/ dual sports kinda thing.

so for me im about 25-28ish miles from work so the commute is longer and when i first wake up i have energy to go and have no issues. so when i rode in i was awake and fine but once i got to work i had to wait like 5mins before i could truly go inside. well during that time and getting off the bike i unwind and went back to being super tired and thats when i dropped the keys im guessing.

it is the gf asked how i felt with it being loaded in his truck i told her its a mixed bag tbh... i love the bike and would like to keep it but its just not what i need anymore... ya i havent used it in awhile since i got the bolt... yes the klx will do things the bolt cant but i cant do that with the gf and she is always with me on the bike so no reason having something i cant use besides the few odd occasions.

haha trying to as much as possible! atm the bike is in the garage again since this weeks temp is 100 degrees and 85-95% humidity so ya imma take the truck with ac lmao.

idk if he knows what they are tbh they were on it when he bought it. he is also a biiiit not good to talk to atm about the bike he is extremely salty. ill ask his brother to take a pic of the tires since its at his house.

I always try to make eye contact with other drivers. Sometimes it works and sometimes they're just oblivious. I'm a huge proponent of bright colors. I rode with a friend once last year and his frist comment when we got to our destination was just how visible I was to him with the hi-viz yellow helmet. He said that was going to be something he looked for going forward when buying a helmet. I had another elderly driver approach me at an intersection to tell me the same thing, that my hi-viz jacket and helmet really "popped" and stood out and he really liked that.

If/when you decide to invest in rain gear, do NOT buy black rain gear. We're invisible enough in the eyes of most drivers. Riding in the rain makes it even worse and you need every advantage you can get. My rain gear is hi-viz yellow. I don't care if someone thinks I look like Big Bird rolling down the road. That means they saw me. Extra lighting on the front of the bike helps a lot too.

ya i like bright colors as we all know from my klx lol. the helmet i have now is something ive always wanted which is a forged carbon fiber helmet its reallly really cool so i love it. i also try to get colors that go with the bike instead of ones that go against the colors because well thats who i am lol.

ya black rain gear is a terrible idea tbh lol id get any color other then that haha tbh we dont really care to have rain gear if we get wet we get wet about it lol

i have been wanting to swap my turn signals for the harley ones where they have those led halos in them. those always catch my eye so was thinking it would help with visibility

I just went back and saw it! Looks like an awesome event and that side car setup is super cool. I also like that RZ350 in the same color scheme.

My apologies for not tagging you right away! I just saw a FB post referring to the event as Burning Man for motorcyclists and that is a near perfect description. I know I likely missed just as much as I saw. Been seeing videos on friend's FB feeds from the camping area and it looked insane. Someone had a burnout board they made from wood to allow riders to do burnouts and not be throwing stones or dirt everywhere and by Saturday night it got that hot it caught fire! I will go again but likely wait a couple years unless I find a reason to go sooner.

You could even pay an extra $10 and get to ride a parade lap around the road course.

Is that going to be used or for display? That's a sweet helmet!

I am pretty sure I wrecked myself or got Covid from this weekend. I'm happy I managed to get through the track day but no riding for me this week. :(
