Hi, I had my mechanic replace the front struts on my 2WD Tacoma. It lifted the front end almost 2.5 inches!! Mechanic is convinced at he put on correct shocks.

Looks pretty goofy. Not looking to lift truck, just keep it level.

History on the the truck. We have owned it 5 years (son drives it) great little truck. Put a little 1 inch spacer lift on it back then to avoid tire rub. I never paid attention to model - base or prerunner --need to verify. (V6, lug wheels , not markings on it regarding trim or prerunner). I believe it to be a prerunner -- but do I put on "base " struts or "prerunner" struts.

I feel like these are the wrong struts, he assures me they are right shocks and the problem is due spacers and the old struts being old and compressed? I this possible. He is planning on removing the spacers (1in) and reinstalling new struts, (FCS 3345566 - prerunner)

looking for advise on correct strut for this truck - The strut is FCS #3345566, listed as prerunner or 4wd. It has a extended length of 22.09 and compressed length of 17.01. FCS has a base strut (1346361- base)for Tacoma with extended 21.77 and compressed length of 16.3.

Thanks in advance -- Matt M

Take some pictures of the struts and let us see them, do you have 5 lugs or 6 on the wheels?

new strut on truck.jpg The wheels are 6 lug.

Unfortunately, the mechanic has the old struts or has thrown them away. Here is a picture the new strut on with the spacer.

OK 6 lugs are pre-runners. Pre-runners have 2 different struts with that company, TRD and non TRD. Part Number: 1346361L with TRD and Part Number: 3345566L without

Thannsk for all of your help on this.

I do not have the TRD package .

Part number 3345566L is what he put on the truck -- that is the correct strut?

Why would that move me up 2.5 inches? Still scratching my head on this. I guess w will remove spacers and see how it rides.

    Thanks again.

As I understand spacer lifts, a 1” spacer will provide a 2” lift. New strut, being fresh could add a half inch. That could explain the 2-1/2” lift.

If this pic is with the truck sitting on the ground. You got way more than 2.5” of lift in the front. In this photo there is pretty much no down travel left. IMG_1919.png

yes that would be the correct part number for your vehicle...but WHY its so funky and tall is crazy! I cant see ANY way the front end was "so old and compressed" it would raise the front end THAT far

Thanks for all the input. We are going to remove the spacer and put them back on.

The picture of the uca is on the ground. The strut is sitting soo tall that my springs are hitting the upper arms.

That would be great if removing the spacer moves it 2 inches!

I should have some answers by Thursday evening.

Aftermarket stock Loaded struts tend to be much taller until the new spring settles could be why it’s so lifted.
