The thunder and monsoon started about 20 minutes ago, we need the water so no complaints from me.

We had the weekly design team meeting at 9am this morning. The last 'do - or - die' deadline came and went on the 14th, the next one is Aug 11th
( a Sunday ??). The boss gave the most f-d up story/scenario that I've ever heard today.. he said : " imagine if you couldn't quit your job or be fired, what would you do if you wouldn't get paid if the project went over budget and the work still had to get done?" I just about turned off the PC and grabbed me lunch box and just walked out of there. The other 3 guys in the office/cube just looked at each other with the ' W T F ' look on their faces. Yup, this project is somewhere around 3000% over budget. We found out on Friday that the customer actually cancelled the project in January and just re-funded it partially in early July because of the seriousness of the reason for the project and the DoD pressuring the Primary contractor (not us) to get the project moving into production.

On Friday our team saw the drawings for the next trailer where some genius designed a hand made welded I beam that needs to have the web made from a single 50' long 12" wide piece of 3/4" thick 4130. I'd like to know where they can even get a 50' piece of chromoly, let alone how to transport it or fabricate it in our shop. ( they don't have any 50' acorn tables in the weld shop...) My goodness, the stupidity flows like the cheap coffee that they serve. They want to hire 8 more 2d CD operators in addition to the 5 open slots for 3D operators/designers. I've been there 14 months and have designed exactly 3 parts, the rest of the time I'm fixing the drawings that the interns and operators keep fucking up. There's no more room for anyone to sit anywhere. The last 3 new hires are still waiting for a PC, its been 3 weeks since they started. That goes right into overhead.. I don't know why they're so over budget....

Counting down to the NEXT round of storms. The biggie for today should roll in just after 10pm. 60mph winds and torrential downpours. Batten down the hatches.
My burn pile already reaching record hight. May have more limbs to add tomorrow.

Friends live in the middle of the burn area, fire went around this 3 block area, don't know why.
They lost alot of friend and family. One road in and out, no where to run. Very depressing.

oh, it's like a manic comedy to me! I just hope that I can find a direct hire position before the shit show goes into over drive. There is another offsite property that they are trying to get set up for fabrication of the containers for the trailers. It's another 20 miles north of where this location is at. Absolutely no-way-in-hell will I go that far for this BS.
