Honest answer for that application is to keep your OEM shocks and bump to a +1 tire size (265/75-16) and enjoy. Best bet.

Why do you think you need new anything? It's only a couple years old.

Maybe better tire, depending on what's on there ?

Whatever you do, dont spacer lift just to fit a bigger tire. A better quality tire, airing down (assuming clearance isnt the issue youre trying to overcome) and driver knowledge is 100x more important than sidewall size.

Unrelated. Earlier I saw what looked like I'd say a 1970 Ford pickup regular cab long bed with maybe a 1 foot lift and rolling on something bigger than 40s, it was bad ass!

For a Tacoma Bilstein,Fox, Eibach with or with out coils already on them. Or anything similar.

Ok. Wheels and shocks don't necessarily lift your truck. A better question would be how much do you want to lift your truck, what's your budget and are you just occasionally driving on fire-roads or will you be doing more serious off-roading and crawling. Honesty matters since more functionality typically requires more $$$.

Lifting the truck over 2.5" typically requires spending more money for adjustable upper control arms (UCAs).

You can search the 3rd gen forum for the following terms and learn a bunch:

    2" lift
what size tire fits without trimming
    leveling kit
    spacer lift
    factory trd lift kit

..and fwiw larger tires and tires that are made for heavy off-roading are typically heavier. Heavier means the truck will be slower. For all I know you do not care about acceleration.. but if you do tire size and weight will be a factor.

Honestly i was thinking a 2-2.5 lift, i don't have any plans on doing any serious off-roading or crawling, i have a budget of $1000-$1700

Is that budget for the lift/suspension changes alone or does that include tires?
